I'm not an atheist I'm an agnostic.

I don't get pissed off with people who believe in a god or the bible.

I'm gay and I have a great life that does not impact negatively on anyone else. However my life at times is considerably impacted by christian beliefs.

Why do Christians feel the need to force their beliefs on everyone else - As you say “It's not your life, let them believe in it if they want to. Worry about your own life.”

I don't feel negatively toward someone's belief in god or the bible. I feel negatively toward that same someone's belief that their way is the only "true" way and anyone who does not believe that way is going to suffer eternal damnation in hell. Hell is traditionally a place of intense suffering where "bad" people go. By this logic, only Christians are "good" people and everyone else is "bad." How can this be anything but offensive?

Most Christians and I get along just fine, even when we discuss religion, because we both understand that we live and let live. Many Christians, though, feel that it's their solemn duty to try to bring me into the flock. That's where the conflict occurs. It's difficult to feel warm fuzzies when someone believes you're going to hell, whether they intend to be judgmental, superior, and righteous or not.

I don't get pissed when somebody believes in the bible. I feel sorry for those poor-misguided fools, but as you say, it is their own life, so they can do as they wish.

I get pissed when they don't follow what they believe (it is hard when your beliefs are based on a book of contradictions). The bible says that gay men should be killed, but then to murder is a sin. So which rule are people meant to follow?

I also get pissed when they try to influence society to the detriment of everyone but themselves.

I'm more of an agnostic than an atheist and could care less if you believe in a god or not but I have read that evil book you call a bible and I could never worship or pray to something that is as evil as the god portrayed in that book. And it pisses me off that you could read that thing and not be offended by that evil christian thing. Read the book that thing is evil and not deserving of praise or worship.

And christians dont get pissed off???
Get a life and look around you.

Religion is the base of all evil in this world. Religion kills and has been doing so since the beginning.

A religion free world would be the perfect world but nothing is and nothing will ever be perfect.

it does not bother me ONE bit what people worship. You can bow to your microwave for all I care, but the very second you act like you are better than me, or try to tell me how to live my life because of your dillusion, THAT is when I get pissed... That is when we start to have problems.

It isn't usually the fact that someone believes in god or the bible or any particular diety/sacred book etc. that annoys us, it is when beliefs are unwantedly pushed upon us in our everyday lives. Many religious people are very forceful in their attempts to convert the population, and it is not appreciated. Whatever private beliefs you may hold make no difference in my opinion of you, as long as they remain private.

It's "Question for aN Atheist?" a plumber - good, aN electrician - good. AN Atheist, not a athiest.

Outside of the grammar lesson, the reason is that religion is a part of everyone's lives as it drives those that create our laws. It really impacts our lives if you happen to be a Danish cartoonist that accurately mocks Islam.
