Islam forbids suicide without any “ifs” and “buts”. Life belongs to He who grants it, not to mortal men who are its trustee. To violate that rule amounts to a claim of divine authority for mortal man. The issue becomes more complicated when would-be suicide bombers are presented as “martyrs”. In Islam, however, it is not up to mortal man to decide to become a martyr. A martyr is either one who suffers at the hands of the enemies of Islam, often to the point of death, because of his or her faith, not politics, or someone who falls in a battle against aggressors. The martyr does not want to become one. He knows that the highest value is the preservation of life; he is put to death not by his own hands but by his oppressors.

So how, then, can you say it's the religion that allows this, when this article is one of hundreds that clearly show it's not? Please, if you have knowledge, answer these questions.

I agree with you. While these sick people are out there claiming to be martyrs and killing themselves. How could they be true Muslims when think they could control the time of their death? We must only leave that in Allah's (swt) mighty hands, He is the only one who gives us life and takes it. Islam strictly forbids suicide. These people just don't understand. And they do not realize how many people are turning away from Islam and misunderstanding it because of all this violence going around.

And Allah (swt) knows best.

The origins of such behavior are as ancient as Islam itself. Don't believe this post. Check into the history of Islam. The more modern version is quoted below, but Islam has had it's suicide attackers for centuries. Only now, facing the dangers of free speech and freedom of the press do they realize they can't hide such methods anymore, so they pretend they never used them except a "modern group, not 'true' Islamic followers".

What nonsense. Do some research on both sides of the issue. Don't believe. Know.

"The birth of the Palestinian-Egyptian Fedayeen dates to 1955 when Nasser escalated his importation of arms from the Soviet Union in order to build his arsenal for the eventual confrontation with Israel in 1967. In order to soften the battlefield, he employed a new tactic against the Jews. He announced it on August 31, 1955: "Egypt has decided to dispatch her heroes, the disciples of Pharaoh and the sons of Islam and they will cleanse the land of Palestine. There will be no peace on Israel’s border because we demand vengeance, and vengeance is Israel’s death." Nasser labeled his "heroes" a "Fedayeen." In Arabic, fedayeen means "ones who are ready to sacrifice their lives." It was the rebirth of the Islamic suicidal holy warrior."

I guess it's just like western religion, see, the bible sez 'thou shall not murder' but we still send our armies out in a 'just' cause to murder our opposition.
so i guess they're kinda the same
