Army 487,000
Marine Corps 174,000

The US Army has well over half of the 8,800 Abrahms, while the rest went to the Marines and other countries

3,273 M1 tanks were produced for the US Army. 4,796 M1A1 tanks were built for the US Army and the US Marines, and 555 co-produced with Egypt. Egypt has ordered a further 200 M1A1 tanks with production to continue to 2005. 77 M1A2 tanks have been built for the US Army, 315 for Saudi Arabia and 218 for Kuwait.

You figure it out!

I am a tanker in the army, I was trained on the tank but I have never been to an armor unit, i have been on Stryker for the past 3 1/2 years, and I love them just as much, but I am not forgetting my roots! Marines get the same training at Fort Knox, except they go there after your boot camp, the Army you go to Fort Knox and basic training and AIT are all mixed in as one long time (OSUT). Do it, its fun and good for you!

Are you joking? The Marines are an amphibious force. Sure they have tanks but an entire branch of the army is devoted to Armor plus it's a much larger force. Actually, to be honest you probably have about an equal chance now that I think about it.

USMC is mainly an amphibious force and have very few heavy armor units in comparison to the Army. In contrast, an entire branch of the Army is dedicated to armored warfare and they have several different heavy armor units across the nation and in Germany as well.

However, remember that when enlisting the odds of getting exactly what you want are slim due to restrictions on what the recruiter can and can not guarantee. However, your best bet is with Army.

The Army uses the M1 Abrams, not the Marines.
