I am a believer. Life is hard for everyone so it drives me crazy when people plead for deliverance/ pray for the strength to preservere. I truly believe that God intends for us to be self-reliant, and to lean on the ones that love us for support. And use him as a steady and constant open ear, not as the one and only problem solver.

Because people are brainwashed as a child into going to church by schools and not taught that they can solve problems themselves they are being told he is the only one who controls things, they are not given any information about alternate religions that would suit the individual instead are treated en mass to believe the same thing, Christianity has told children that you must suffer for your religion, you don't control anything god does, so many feel helpless in helping themselves when the answers they need are the simplest of all trust in yourself to prosper.

It is true that people ask God to solve their problems. But really, we can not change God's will, so if it is not the will of God for you to get out of debt by winning the lottery, then it won't happen. However, we can pray for guidance. If we want to win the lottery, the logical thing to do would be to buy a lottery ticket thuse we have a chance to solve our own problems.

People go to God in prayer because God is omniscient, all knowing. He is the creator of the world, who with his Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one God. They want to lay everything on God, to let God know their problems, even though God knows everything. Really, people go to God in prayer as a way to relieve or vent whatever is on there mind.

In the end God may or may not solve there probelms if it is seen within his divine plan. However int hese times we must recall that old common phrase, "If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it." In the end people learn trust in God, with that trust the come to a better understanding of their prayers and cries to God, because in all reality, we become the answer to our prayers.

Because they honestly can't do it themselves.

I know I'm going to get thumbs down like crazy but it's the truth. When they are in trouble they turn to God. When non believers run into trouble they rely on themselves.

We all arent problem-solving handicapped. we don't need a crutch.

but maybe i dont give them enough credit..maybe when they ask for god's help and dont get it after awhile they HAVE to rely on themselves.

The only prob there is the delusion that comes with it.

It is a general belief in Hinduism that "We are God" "God is in our inner self" So when someone prays god he is at solitude to himself. When you close your eyes for praying you are detached from the surrounding environment. That moment of solitude to yourself is the fraction of time you are with god i.e. at peace which gives you strength to you. I believe that when we pray, it is not that God takes away our problems, but we get enough strength which enables us to reduce the intensity of the problem. The Problem is there but your strength is so increased that you feel the problem reduced its intensity. This is what I have understood about the God.

A lot of people will ask for Gods "help" to solve their problems. I am one that believes that if I ask God to help, He will give me that help. He will put things in the proper light in my mind for me, to enable me to make the right choices to solve my problems. A lot will ask for Gods guidance, then go ahead and try to take care of things without waiting upon Him. We must wait upon the Lords answer. Sometimes it's not easy, but when we take things in our own hands, we get weaker in our faith because we don't get the outcome we expect after asking for His help. We all need to remember, "Not my will, but thine."

One definition of the word "faith" is "belief that is not based on proof".

Most people have problem with their lives, that they can't solve, and since they may not be able to change it, they consider it to be someone or something elses fault.

Asking 'God' to solve their problems would satisfy two things; the need for proof to back up their beliefs, and a solution to their problems.

Because God is a Father and a provider for all those who born of the Holy Spirit, who are true and faithful servants to Him.....A True Christian has a personal relationship with their Father in heaven, and in prayer, has faith in asking their Father for help in anything they do, regardless how petty it may seem as long as it is within His Will for us........ What kind of problems do you have? Do you have health problems? Financial problems? Mental health problems? Employment problems? Family problems? Social problems? Academic problems? God can help you solve ANY PROBLEM YOU HAVE! Of course you have to do YOUR part, but the Creator God has ALL POWER in the universe. He can give you dramatic deliverance and help you in miraculous ways!
If God is to help solve your problems and answer your prayers, what does He expect of YOU? See what the Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:6: "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
As you read the Bible accounts of how God helped people and delivered them from tremendous stresses and trials, you will come to have more faith. Read the stories of Daniel in the lions’ den; the deliverance of Shadrach, Meshech and Abednego from the fiery furnace of Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon; and the escape of the ancient Israelites through the Red Sea. Read about the miracles performed by Jesus of Nazareth—the Son of God—in healing the diseased, the blind, the lame, and the deaf. Read of how Jesus raised the dead to life! This will help give you faith and hope!
The prophet Jeremiah gave hope to the people of ancient Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken captive to Babylon. After they learned their lessons, God promised to respond to their humble prayer: "For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord" (Jeremiah 29:10–14).
That same principle applies to you! You can have a conversation with the Creator of the Universe! He says you can find Him, if you seek Him with your whole heart. You can pray or talk to Him and He says: "I will listen to you!"

Well if they just ask Him to solve it for them and do nothing for it themselves......... thats stupid. Its stupid to keep your car door unlocked in bridgeport and pray to God to keep things in it safe.
If they do the neccessary efforts, and even utmost effort and then ask God to help them solve their problem, thats the right way.
If they put their utmost effort and never ask God`s help thats arrogance........ becos, we may make all neccessary efforts and still there are factors that are not in our control that only God can control and has power over........ Well if you are on a ship deep in the ocean and there is a sudden unforcasted storm in the ocean.... its arrogance not to ask God to solve this problem that you have hardly any control over (remember titanic).
In the same way every aspect of our life in connected with God someway or another...especially when dealing with other people, over whose hearts and minds we don`t have any control but God does .... its only natural to ask God to do His part after we have done ours..... that comes when you believe that God has a part to play in all of your matter..... but if you don`t believe that and you are arrogant and denying the truth.... then you will not ask him... and in your problems you won`t even have the comfort of talking it out to God, who you know is always listening to you.
