I am struggling to come up with another answer. We see a specialist on Monday, but in the meantime I am beside myself. My 19 month old baby girl has a VERY inflamed knee and is having trouble walking, she also has an unexplainable butterfly pattern rash on her face. All symptoms point to Lupus or Juvenile Arthritis, but PLEASE help ease my mind by coming up with something else it could be.

The butterfly rash is classic Lupus. As a mother, I know you want your child to be healthy; but honestly, there are worse things that it could be. The singer Seal, had Lupus, and is now fine.
Please do a web search on Lupus to learn more, as there are a few different types of Lupus. Use what you learn to make a list of notes for information to give the doctors, as well as questions to ask. This will help you be better prepared for the specialist (hopefully a pediatric immunologist) on Monday.

This is why you're taking her to a rheumatologist. Give her doctor a chance.
In the meantime, as worried as you may be (and rightly so), there is nothing that you can do to make a difference. In fact, by being this tense, all that you're doing to allowing your daughter to pick up on your nervousness. She can't process that, and will only end up in more pain and misbehaving even more that she would be if you were to calm down a bit.
There are many types of JA. You do have to wait. But once she's been examined, ask all of the question that you have. Write them down ahead of time, so you don't forget. Remember that there is no such thing as a stupid question, only questions to which you don't yet have answers.
I'm giving you a link to a site that has discussion boards about arthritis, including a board about juvenile arthritis. Once your daughter has a diagnosis, even a preliminary one, give it a try. It's a great place for support.

I am so very sorry to hear of your baby being ill. It does sound as if she is having symptoms of Lupus more than Juvenile Arthritis because of the butterfly rash on her face. I urge you to get with a Lupus support group of parents who are going through the same thing as you are , when you do find out for sure.
