Yes, a three month old kitten can very well have worms. Kittens (and puppies) should have their first worming treatment at 8 weeks old. You're really better off getting the dewormer from the vet. It's not expensive and he/she can send several doses with you for boosters.

Just to verify a couple things....yes, many times kittens are born with worms passed on from the mother (roundworms), although this is more common in puppies. The most common worm in cats is tapeworms which is caused by fleas. This may be what your kitten has. There are different wormers for different worms so you first need to get your cat diagnosed. Tapeworms look like little grains of rice when dead and dry. You can get meds for this on the internet. This is the exact same meds your vet would give you. DO NOT buy the stuff from the pet store..usually does not work at all and you will end up having to re-worm with the good stuff anyway. You can also take your cat to the vet for an injectable dewormer if you cannot pill your cat at home.

It is quite common for kittens under three months to have worms. Yes you can get dewormer from the pet store, but I would not recommend it because 1>since you are asking this question, I will have to assume you do not know what type of worm the kitten is infested with 2> If the kitten has worms, then I have to assume she was not given a wormer by the vet b/c you have not taken her in for her first shots yet 3>Since you do not know what type of worm she has then you cannot know what type of nematocide to treat her with and for what duration. Not all worms can be treated the same way.

Let me leave you with this thought. Worms are as capable of infesting you as they are your kitten. Take her to the vet to be treated properly. Feeling itchy yet?

Absolutely, most kittens are born with worms, unless the queen was wormed regularly to prevent this.
You can get medicine for roundworms at the pet store. You can't really diagnose which kind of worms the cat has without taking a fecal sample to the vet, but I'd say roundworms is a good bet. At some point, when you take her for shots, have her checked for worms too, just to be sure.

A very sad fact is that the queen can pass worms on to the kittens at birth. Bring your kitten for a check up and tell the vet. Good luck, your baby kitten will be okay.

Yes. Many kittens are born with worms that they get from their mother, while still in the womb. It's best to take a fecal sample to the vet, so they can determine what kind(s) of worms your kitten has and what to treat it with.
