That depends on what's causing it. Take it to the vet.

lol. I have a persian mix (shorthair), and she's got hair issues, too. She's got patches missing that the vets say is stress-related. She's pulled it out so much that there's scar tissue in the way, so she'll always have a few hairless spots. Also, she's got a food allergy, and if she doesn't get her medicated food, she'll lick off the fur on her stomach, legs and tail. So, you need to find out if it's a food or flea allergy (with cortizone shots) or a behavioral issue (stress, anxiety) or a bacterial or fungal issue (by taking a culture at the vet and testing it).

If it's an allergy, cortizone shots or food modification will clear it up. If it's bacteria/fungus, meds will. If it's behavioral, you can try.

See if it's a stress issue. Some purebreds get upset over
being left alone.

If it's shedding, if you have a PetSmart in your area, buy their
brand of dry cat food - Authority. It's $6.99 a bag, but my
Siamese has been eating it for years and his shedding has
been cut 95%. It has a special formula in it and is specially
for cats. They put whole stuff in there - no fillers.

The fillers can be corn pieces or anything. This is why they
don't feel full. Authority keeps my cat full and he rarely sheds.

It could be a thyroid condition. Some breeds are known for it. Or it could be allergens. In any case, only a qualified vet can tell. This is not the time for home remedies. Take him/her to the vet!

Take to a vet to rule out something serious like a bacterial infection.
