Each person in the world has different odors to their body. Humans can't smell it but dogs and cats are very in tune to it. You could be twins and your cat could tell you apart. She might be more attracted to one brother because she might like one scent better. That is why when you go to a shelter make sure an animal likes your odor!

I'm positive it does. whether it's a house-cat or not, they have good eyes. My cats are indoor/outdoor cats and come back with birds and chipmunks all the time. My boyfriends cat is strictly a house cat, and even though he only visits them about once a month, they run over to him in the split-second they see him. Even if your brother looked exactly like you, cats pick up subtleties in movements.

As a general rule, I would say yes. My reason being...my husband and I went out of town for 5 days. My brother-in-law came by while we were gone to check on our dogs that are outside and the cat that was inside. You'd have to know Roxy...she's weird. She loves us and the new baby, but she hides from everyone else. Well, he said that she came running to him when he came in the door and he picked her up. He said she sniffed him and went "ape sh**" and ran off and wouldn't come out.
So, I'd have to say that they would know a person by looking, but can't distinguish large similarities (my husband and his brother both are tall, have dark hair and are built similarly). She was apparently fooled until she sniffed Paul and realized "that's not daddy!".

yes. Cats can tell the difference between people. I think most of this may have to do with each person's unique scent.

Yes, cats can see (only colors blue and green, a hard time seeing red) and they have very good sense of smell, everyone has a distinct smell. Plus they recognize voices as well.

yes, of course. cats are fairly intelligent, and quite social. your cat knows quite a few differences between the twoo of you. but cats are also wired very strongly to react much more than they are to ponder. they move act and move fast before they take the time to reflect very much on what they are reacting to. so your cat may sometimes respond to the two of you very similarly out of habit and instinct.

It probably doesn't care- my sisters cat doesn't and neither does my brother, as long as they get food and attention. My cat can tell the difference though- he hates my sister, I'm happy to say... (I guess that makes me a jealous owner).

Yes your cat can tell you apart by the way you speak, and by your scent. Also by the way you each interact with the cat.

If your family can tell you and your brother apart then so can your cat...Then again your cat probably can tell you apart without even opening her eyes (the whole individual scent thing) ... who's her favorite you or him?
