I am a Chrisitan. I do not have a church at this time, and may not ever find one. I have certain feelings when I go into a church service. I have done this since I was a small child. I am talking about a sense of wrongness. A few examples: women speaking in church, people running up and down aisles, speaking in tongues, women preachers, by-laws, gasping preacher(and a's), not having communion every Sunday(the 7th day of the week), and snake handling. We are to obey what God tells us to do in the Bible. I feel I am not supposed to be there. What do you think, Chrisitans?

The churches I have attended are Freewill Baptist, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, Catholic, Baptist, and Pentacostal. I have prayed about it and asked God to show me the way.

I did not know it was a snake handling church. Like I said, I have been searching for a Bible following church. The wrongness I feel is very real. I know the Bible says, fail not to assemble yourselves together. I don't think watching a preacher on tv every Sunday qualifies.

Speaking in tongues should be languages to preach to all nations. Should not be done without an interpreter.

The New Testament says a woman shall be silent in church. In the last days or end times women will prophesy.

It is so refreshing to see that you are following the promptings of the Holy Spirit. You continue to follow that still, small voice within you, praying to your Father in Heaven to be lead to the truth and He will lead you to it. I went through the EXACT same thing as you did...I felt they were wrong so I continued following that spirit until I felt that I had truth. God bless you for following His spirit. You have the gift of discernment and use that so He can lead you to His truth. God bless you in this important journey and may you be blessed with peace in happiness.

This is something you have to ask God he will show you and guide you. Sometimes the churches that we go to are seasonal we learn and move on you'll know when your in the right church because you'll feel it. The moment you feel the anointing that's where you'll want to be. If I don't feel the anointing I move on I know the lords anointing when I feel it. Pray God will show you and the more you hunger for him he will guide you and show you the way to a good home church. Yes and women were the first to preach Didn't god tell merry Magdalene go and tell that i am risen not dead but alive? that tells us that women were the first to preach. There's nothing wrong with women preachers. All you have to do is be obedient where God wants you to be even if you feel you don't belong there until you fulfill your purpose. Only God knows why he puts us in a church then were wondering why and the moment you become sensitive to the holy spirit he will show you many things.

It doesn't sound like you've visited very "sound" churches. A lot of that craziness is ignorance, some is just perspective. Churches are as different as the people who attend. This is why we have denominations, groups of like-minded churches.

The best any of us can do is to find a church or a denomination that most suits us according to our understanding of Scripture. Not everything in the Bible is a "Thou Shalt." Some things are, of course. The closest you will ever get to perfection this side of heaven is reasonably close with the ability to agree to disagree with others. It is Christ's church after all, and he so loved the church that he died for it. The Bible says that we should "not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing" (Hebrews 10:25). You seem to currently be in the habit.

God wants you in a body of believers, contributing whatever gifts you have for the building of Christ's church. To not attend because you are never satisfied in any one is something you need to deal with and take before the Lord because He expects you to be growing, and it happens best, in His opinion, within the group.

As one Christian saying has it, "in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things, love. Make that your perspective when you judge the rest of the church and try to find your place in it.

added note:
You have experienced several similar groups of churches. Assemblies Of God ARE Pentecostal.
Freewill Baptists should be like any other Baptists except they make special emphasis on man's free will. Baptists are the largest group of Christians in America.
Church of Christ is a crapshoot; sometimes you get a good one, sometimes leagalistic and cultic.
All of these are Protestant churches and are different than Roman Catholicism. I believe the Gospel is not truly presented in the Roman Catholic Church, and that is why there was a Reformation in the first place. Send me a note if you want to talk more.

For the first question....it's discernment, knowing it's wrong. Although I belong to a pentecostal church I don't think you'd feel comfortable there. We aren't supposed to be doing the snake handling stuff, that's just wrong. God said He'd protect us but that doesn't mean to go out and pick up a snake. If you aren't comfortable that's not where you should be...Going to church should feel like you've come home. If you want communion every week you need a more liturgical church closer to catholic or Anglican (you can ask Father K what the Anglicans believe, he's trustworthy and wouldn't steer you wrong...you can find him by going to my profile and he's one of my contacts.) Disciples of Christ isn't as liturgical but they do have communion every week and it's open so anyone can partake.
Hope that helps.
Blessings

Keep looking.
Try to find one that follows Jesus' teachings on worship. Beware of "doctrines of demons (devils)", 1 Tim 4:1 and "tradition of men", Mark 7:8. Beware the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life, 1 John 2:16.
To me, a demonic doctrine would be one in which the question, as Satan said to eve in Genesis: "Has God truly said?" (poison drinking, snake handling, etc.) is answered. "Traditions of men" is man-made worship. I put the Moslem, Mormon, Catholic, Orthodox, etc churches, and even the modern Jewish faith in that group.
You'll never find a perfect church because they're all made up of people (like me and you). The fellowship I attend has a community worship on Sunday (It's actually the first day of the week. Day seven, Saturday, is holy to the Lord.) Then a weekly fellowship on another day of the week with a small group of members where communion is usually taken.

I know the feeling, I am probably more religious than the Pope, I'm not catholic, but I have not been in a church building since high school. They all seem so hypocritical to me, My church is in the woods, out in nature, in the mountains, there is where you will find God. The bible says "where two are gathered in my name, therefore shall I be" something like that....also something about go into a closet and prey.........Church buildings are made by man, the open world was made by God. I can read the Bible by myself and do my own interpretation, I don't need some Holier-than-tho Preacher telling me what it means......Nuf Said

It is because you were not brought up in holiness things and will not understand the spiritual things of the lord unless God - the holy spirit enlightens you. The other part you spoke of is an occult nature with the snakes but all your other saying is somewhat factual if not impersonated by someone not really a christian. If you have a notion that you are not suppose to be somewhere then get out or visit not again.

You sound like you've been attending some of the more extreme Pentecostal churches. Try a different type of church, but remember, you will probably find something you don't like at every church. There is no perfect church, like there are no perfect people. Some of things things you mentioned are scriptural, but many of them are strange (Jesus didn't really mean to pick up snakes and see if they would bite you, lol) You just sound like you've been attending one church or one type of church. Search around and see where God wants you, and remember just because something makes you uncomfortable or you don't like it doesn't mean it's not the church for you. The right church will challenge you to change in any ways you need to be changed. Ask God for guidance in your search and be obedient to where he wants you to be. I hope everything works out well.

Let the Holy Spirit lead you. We can speak in tongues. Read ACTS 2:4 The snake handling is not right, that is testing the Lord. The Lord will give you discernment. Pray about it, God will answer you. He wants you in his house. God Bless You.
