Faith will supersede truth is why religions shut down intelligence and reasoning. Once a mind is intoxicated with faith the person under this influence cannot separate his deep ceded belief systems.
Look at religions like deep ceded romantic love: This love becomes more important than the person's character or trust worthiness. You have seen a man or woman so in love that their lover could do not wrong? Even with hard core factual proof the religious will still be hard pressed to release their faith.
Once again this is why this planet will have to go through a form of hell for the religious to let go of their delusional belief system.
Hold on to your seat folks because this planet is in for a very tremulous ride.

look, i'm no longer a Christian or an Atheist, yet i'm somewhat ill of your 2 communities constantly antagonizing one yet another on Y!a. do no longer you all have something extra perfect to do? considering you do no longer believe in Jesus, you (probably) do no longer believe there is any God up there to end undesirable stuff from taking place. So rather of posting impossible questions for no different reason yet to harass human beings, how approximately you do something to make the international a extra perfect place? I recommend, in case you do no longer believe that Jesus is going to make all undesirable issues disappear with the snap of his arms, shouldn't you do good works your self? no less than, pass out and get a existence that would not contain demanding human beings for kicks.

Yeah, but do you know what does exist? Proofreading something before you hit 'submit' and a little thing called oh, I don't know, humility. You don't have all the answers, man. Much as you'd love to think you do, you don't.
Instead of reading books on pagan mythology, try reading an English book. One that teaches proper capitalization skills, that's for sure. Hooked on Phonics will do nicely. They have an 800 number I think so, log off & call.

I'm a Christian but I don't believe in the immaculate conception ot that Jesus was "the son of God" any more than any other human is. He was a really cool dude with a beautiful message. If he didn't exist, I would still believe in the message of love and forgivness.

Let me answer this without resorting to name-calling or talking about blasphemy or relying on the Bible or anything that will cause you to say, "See, Christians aren't good at dealing with reality, they are all deluded."
This is how I view my faith: The truth of the message taught me, convinced me, of the truth of the messenger. For me, Christianity is a code of conduct and morality that does not depend on the existence of a real-life guy in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. I don't worship the man himself. I believe in God, and I want to understand how to be a better person. I want to know how to make the world a better place. I don't want to follow a set of rules just because some historical dude set them out, I want to have a way of living that works, so I can get up in the morning, look myself in the face, and know that I'm not just wasting the oxygen on the planet. When I examine what Jesus said and did (and this depends not at all on miracles or magic tricks) I see a very good example of how to be a better person. I find very good advice on what to do, who to respect, and how to listen to the still quiet place inside that guides me to do the right thing. Jesus had two main things to say: Love God, and love your fellow humans. Everything follows from this. Love is a verb, not a noun -- that means I have to follow up this advice with action that demonstrates my love -- help, not harm. Treat other people, all other people, even the ones that p*** me off, with the respect and caring that I would wish for myself. Not to stoop to petty prejudice. Not to be greedy or self-seeking. Anything that doesn't follow from Jesus' two rules is probably something humans came along with later and added. It is important to me to make that distinction and not blindly obey dogma.
OK, so how does this answer your question? I believe in the message. I don't believe in any myths. If you could prove to me that Jesus didn't exist, even that God doesn't exist, I would want to follow the message because it seems to me to help me get through the day and my life without too many regrets.
I hope this helps you to understand not all Christians are right-wing nutjobs trying to crucify gays or tell you you're going to hell. Your life is none of my business. I'm just trying to get by with my own, thanks.

That's right. I was raised in a christian community and I still see my family often. I've tried to speak with them about the subject and they will not ever ever deny it. They will never deny that I would deny it. It's really frustrating that the people around me who care about me personally believe that God is in control of me and not myself. Sigh* Whatevathefunkeva
I think one day the truth of it will come out. It is the worst 2000 year marketing campaign ever to control people and make them do unreasonable things. Robbed, raped and murdered in the name of God? I know it sounds brutal but that's what has been going on for years and years and years and years. And these people have been protected because of their positions as politicians and priests. I guess I'll see you all in hell then.

The thing is, you nor anyone else can prove he does not exist. Why I ask? Because he does still exist today. You have no proof simply because you have not trusted on him. Seeing is not believing, believing means you will one day see him. He is only Lord to those that call him Lord. You want proof, call him your Lord and he will give you proof! He did for me!

If you were shown absolute proof he did live, would you believe? There is more documentation for the life of Jesus than there is for the life of Confucius, Plato or Socrates. Nobody doubts they lived. Why are you so scared of one Jew that lived 2000 years ago?

The true religion will show you how the Bible, Jesus, Creation & Jehovah all tie up. Wonderful sreation itself proves that there's a God. The Bible has proved itself true by accurate prophecy & no contradictions. And the Bible says God (Jehovah) wrote it. And Jehovah says JEsus existed so...what now?

It is well Documented that Jesus existed, and it is very well Documented as many as 500 seen Jesus after his Resurrection. It was documented when He ascended up into Heaven. Hebrew people were well known to document events.
