Depends on the type of attention you crave. There is Munchhausen's Syndrome in which people who are not getting the attention the feel they deserve will do themselves physical harm. There is Munchhausen's Syndrome By Proxy in which the person harms someone else...usually one of their own children in order to gather attention and sympathy from others "Oh, you poor thing...your child is so sick...what can I do for you?" There is also Narcissistic Personality...person believes EVERYTHING is about them and if it isn't they will MAKE it about them somehow. A Sociopath is someone who basically has no conscious or sense of guilt or remorse when they do harm to another living being....Ted Bundy was a Sociopath....Diane Downs.....Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker).....Aileen Wournos...all murderers..all showed absolutely no remorse, guilt, sorrow or regret for what they had done...and in some cases seemed almost proud of themselves. Not all Sociopaths are killers but a great many of them are.

Histrionics are the people who crave attention.
A sociopath is the kind of person who has no regard for anyone other than themselves. They tend to manipulate the people around them for their own satisfaction. Sociopaths are usually highly intelligent people, but they lack the ability or desire to care about the feelings of others.

Wow, I'm suprised no one said Borderline Personality yet.
There are several disorders that can cause one to crave attention. Most of them are personality disorders, but as some have said... Munchhausens is a possibility.

Histrionic Personality Disorder is one in which individuals do things to draw attention to themselves.
Sociopath is a term for a person who meets criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder. Basically, our criminals. They may hurt others, steal, lie, and they do not feel remorse for their actions.
