I am 19 years old and I see everything as being pointless and worthless. I dont understand because the thing is that I have alot going in my life right now. I'm in college, I have alot of opportunity to travel, a job, family, friends. But I don't seem to care. I feel as if life isn't worth living and i'm starting to get tired of everything. I can't take it anymore.
I think that my problem is that I have alot of interpersonal issues and I can't seem to communicate well with others and that bothers me because I just don't understand why. So i always come out as strange or often ignored by others becaues of my bizzare behavior. That causes me to withdraw which makes it worst I suppose. I feel awkward and uncomfortable around others. I don't know what to do anymore.... I don't want to give up but I don't feel like I have the strength to continue.

I have already tried counseling but it doesnt seem to work for me for a long term result. I've been depressed for abot 8 years now. I don't even know how I lasted that long but It's making me very week and I can't seem to focus on my work at school. I'm not doing as good as I know I can and it makes me mad because I have alot of determination but I just cant seem to put it into work and it sucks. I'm always to myself. In fact I am a loner.

If you felt life was not worth living, you wouldn't be reaching out. Definitely exercise, eat right, get into some group therapy so you don't feel so alone and maybe get other ideas you can apply to yourself. You are in a stressful situation just to be in college so you have a lot on your plate. College alone could be a huge source of stress.
However, you sound so intelligent, with the right direction and help you could probably play a key role in a group scession and end up helping others as well as yourself.
Get going on this NOW !
Interpersonal issues can be overcome with a little effort and communication is something we all need to learn.
You are so frustrated, be good to yourself. There are a lot of positive steops you can take, you are in charge weather or not you realize it. Hey, you are not alone.
Eventually, you will see things as having value and give you happiness. you are 19 and will have a lot to give and get out of life. Believe in yourself !
brethe, relax, you had some wonderful answers.

I have been there. No bull here girl.
Whatever seems to be even a TINY LIGHT at the end of the tunnel. Do that. I finally moved from the city I grew up in, and it made all the difference. It took some years to really turn things around but things go better. Obviously something needs to change.
Getting away to different place really can help. Some people may say that is running away but that is not always the case. It depends on the circumstance.
As far as interpersonal issues.. Do YOU make sense to you? Find the parts that do make sense and then connect that way with others. And if you aren't connecting that well with others, so what? One step at a time. Just one step at a time. There ARE ways you can be happier. You may just have to start very small, or it may be big, only you know : )
p.s. Some of the greatest people who ever lived were loners

You should check out the counseling programs offered by your college, most campuses have them at little or no cost. You sound like you are suffering from major depression. It is caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. The good news is that depression is a very treatable medical condition, with antidepressants and counseling most people can get their symptoms under control. You may feel like things can't get better and its not worth it right now, but honestly it will get better.
If you are feeling suicidal I suggest that you contact a local crisis hotline or go to the emergency room, ER's have emergency therapists on call trained to deal with mental health crisises.
Utilize your social support networks that you have such as family and friends, they care about you and can be a huge asset in your recovery.
You can get through this I promise!

I have been there many times. I have been just soo stressed as you are right now. I know it seems like all you can do write now is quit, but that is not the case.
About a month ago, I felt as though I would kill myself any moment. Then my 9 year old little cousin sang a song for me. She did not know I was suicidal, but she had just learned it. Her mom bought the karaoke version. If you want to hear a song that might change you prespective of life, go to youtube.com and type in on the top bar (above where it says communities) and type in "Someon'e watching over me". This song meant a lot to me. I had also suffered a great loss of someone I loved very much too. If you want to hear a good song, then listen to this song. A 15 year old girl sang it, but it still means a lot.
I hope you like this song. You should really listen to the words of this song. They are sooooo... powerful.
Remember not to give up.
You have a whole life ahead of you, so you can't quit now!!!
You need to have a family, marry someone you love, and get a really good job!
No one said life was going to be easy!

If I could just count how many times I have been there. You need to just sit back and relax. Its all stress. Start eating better working out more, and taking vitamins. Stay away from drinking or drugs. Even if you don't do them much or often will through you outta wack. Think every time you get in a down mode what did you do the week prior. Like Partying, or Sleeping habits. If you don't do any of them. Look for foods and drinks that are all natural, and if that still doesn't help see a doctor. I am very moody and doctors say bi polar. If I treat my body good eat right and exercise have less down times and more good times without meds.

Try therapy again. You are very depressed and hopeless. It can get better, but you have to try. Try finding a therapist who specializes in either interpersonal therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy. Both of these types of therapy have research behind them to support their efficacy.
You also probably (very likely) need an antidepressant. You appear to be severely depressed and perhaps the reason that the therapy did not work is because sometimes individuals are so depressed physiologically, they cannot benefit from the therapy.
Try again. It can get better if you try-I know it will be hard, but you do have the strength.

MTV would desire to be renamed RTV : fact television. They stopped taking part in video clips for sturdy around 2003 (as quickly as I graduated severe college). yet, previous MTV is the ultimate! it somewhat is the place I observed the bands that could replace my life continuously. And, I omit Riki Rachtman on Headbanger's Ball, one hundred twenty minutes, Kurt and Courtney Day, Video Countdowns... They was once cool. Then, MTV2 got here out. They performed video clips for a jointly as, to get human beings to purchase the channel, then they placed on the comparable textile that nicely-known MTV had! They extra Headbanger's Ball lower back (the sole difficulty the channel's carried out good in approximately 15 years). yet, i'm now no longer a nicely-known viewer. I watch VH1 classic for all my music desires.

Talk to a counselor, pastor, or teacher on campus. Many people [all ages] have communication issues. You are smart enough and self aware to realize this.
You may call your behavior 'bizarre' but is that your interpretation or others? Pay attention to how others interact in the classroom. Are they argumentative, informative, angry, flirtatious? No one is always appropriate.
Go to one of the counselors on campus. You are not the only one with this problem.

Trust me. I know it's hard to do online, especially when you can't talk to someone face to face... Most people go through something like this. Mine lasted for years, and I FINALLY went to a doctor and got help with it. Welcome to the indescriminite world of depression. It's something you need to be proactive about. It can be due to a chemical imbalance in the brain that medicine can help. (I lost an aunt to suicide, and depression runs strong in my family.)
Go to a doctor and find the courage to tell him/her that you need help working through your emotions. Finding outlets help, too.
Change up what you're doing a little. Change little things and find some meaning in things you never did before if you can. Taking a walk around campus to listen to the birds or other calm, solo things can help you get a grip on your perspective.
But this is something that is part of being human, and it's important to realize your worth! And that your well-being is worth a visit to the doctor to talk about your options.

Go to the counsellings service at your school, chances are it's free and they will probably be able to help more then anyone on here can. I know it'll be hard to go in the first time but you can do it.
