There are varieties of push-ups that you can do.

Elevating the feet is one technique that can work your upper chest which is what most men are looking for. The wider you place your hands the more you isolate the pectoral (chest muscles) and the closer your hands are together the more your will work your triceps.

Dips, which can be done on the edge of a stable chair or bench can do a lot for the tricep muscles.

You can also improvise weights using milk jugs or whatever you have around as long as it is balanced. If not balanced you can really hurt yourself.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reported that he began weight training with home-made devices because he did not have access to a gym, so it can be done. Just be careful and don't take any chances as neck and back injuries can last a lifetime.

A good rule of thumb to remember is that pushing exercises generally work the chest, shoulders, and triceps, also quadriceps in the legs. While pulling motions benefit the hamstrings, back, and biceps.

for your chest, do pushups, do wide pushups and narrow pushups with your arm. It will work different parts of your pectoral muscles. As for your triceps, do reverse dips with a chair. Do a few sets a day and increase your reps more. But really, without proper equipment, you cannot bulk up, you can only tone. Hope this helps.

push ups try to do them between two chairs with your feet on a third so that you can get a nice stretch. then do dips, hands on the seat of a chair behind you and dip down low and slow. squeeze your triceps at the top and hold for a second or two. also for triceps diamond pushups are killer. place your hands flat on the floor in front of your face(rather than spread out) and put your nose between your hands. your index finger and thumb should be touching making a diamond shaped hole between your hands.

Pushups are THE best upper body workout. You can vary it as you get stronger by placing your hands different ways, doing them on your knees and then with your legs extended. You can also put your feet on a chair and do the pushups that way.

For your triceps, try doing "dips". Sit on a sturdy chair, put your hands under your butt, with your hand on the edge of the chair (fingers under you). Extend your legs, lift your body and place your body slightly infront of the chair and push your body down and back up only using your arms. You can also vary this by bend your knees, extending your legs completely, or placing your feet on another chair.

Hope this helps!

get a chest-iron and then do push-ups. various types... Diamon already mentined (they were called zen when i did them, but same diff'), also there's crucifix, holding your hand far out to the sides. Do more than 30 a day though... but if you dont excersize, it's a good starting number to build from.

also if youve any ability with metalwork or woodwork, you could build your own equipment. That's what Bruce Lee did.

Pushups are the main exercise for that if you have no equipment. Try varying the space between your hands to work different areas of your muscles. If you get really strong you can start doing them on an incline, handstand pushups, 1-armed pushups, or clap your hands together between repetitions.
