I understand that the majority of scientists believe in the concept of God or Mother Nature (one and the same if you ask me), but I wonder about the athiest ones.

Are they just arrogant? Do they think "->I<- found this great phenomenon and ->I<- REFUSE to have it attributed to its creator. Therefore, I will say it happened per chance so I will get all the credit."

Thats what I think they think. Its insane to believe everythings by chance. Something had to amke it and makes it tick. I don't care what you think of it as, Mother Earth, God, Nature, WHATEVER.

What makes everything work? How do the organelles in a cell work by themselves? How do brainless RNA strands and protein carriers think and function?

Let me guess, by chance. Sure.

Wow, you really need to work on your arrogance problem.

And what's this "by chance" nonsense? What makes you think that any scientists say anything like that?

Er, "question"? That's not a question, it's an ignorant, arrogant rant.

Let me ask you this: Have you stopped beating your wife yet?

Methinks you don't understand the meaning of 'physical laws'. It's not all chance. There is order to the universe. But the more I discover about it, the more I realize there's no need for a god. The universe can run itself just fine.

I realize you think you're being insulting, especailly by calling those of us who don't believe in your superstitions 'arrogent', but the truth is that you have no basis for your superstitions whatsoever. Whereas science has a solid basis in reality. Go ask your questions in the biology section if you want a real answer - if you keep posting them here, everyone will realize you're just attempting to reinforce your ignorance.

Seems like you have the arrogance problem.

And a lack of scientific knowledge problem.

And you have a lack of research problem:

"The follow-up study reported in "Nature" reveals that the rate of belief is lower than eight decades ago. The latest survey involved 517 members of the National Academy of Sciences; half replied. When queried about belief in "personal god," only 7% responded in the affirmative, while 72.2% expressed "personal disbelief," and 20.8% expressed "doubt or agnosticism." "

It isn't arrogance when you really are that great!

And I should point out that Organelles and RNA strands, not having a brain and all, don't do a great deal of thinking. Nice try though.

Why do you bother showing off to everyone here that you completely lack any ability to think. Do you really think that anyone will be fooled by your foolish point of view? Perhaps you are catering to people with the same level, or lack thereof, of intelligence as you have.

This is SCIENCE, not philosophy or theology. Are there any tests to prove the existence of this creator? To just say that "Well I don't know where it comes from so it must be mother earth or a higher power" is not scientific.

Well some of your last questions could be answered with biochemistry.

Really, I think the idea of scientists conspiring to steal credit from god is nearly as stupid as the on where dirt on your hands proves you were made of clay.

Actually most of them believe in no such thing as you claim. I suggest some actual reading or emailing some of the scientists and asking them directly. Most of them are very open and honest.
And extremely patient with the mentally challenged.

Scientist are exact. They will tell you that a planet is 120 trillion miles away. Not 119 or 121 trillion miles. One day I want to meet the fellow who is counting within the trillion. I don't have that much time to waste.

No they aren't arrogant they are exacting which is what scientists are supposed to be. We people who work in the realm of science want repeatable, irrefutable evidence in order to believe what is before our eyes.

It's "chance" to the layman, but what's really in effect is an infinite chain reaction of causality.
