Are people just cowards who have invented guns and other means to overcome their general inferiority, so that they can prey on helpless innocent animals? As it says in my Bible, every animal has a soul. If it doesn't say that in your Bible, it's time you bought a proper interpretation of the scriptures and threw that out-of-date version in the closest trash pile.

No, we're scavengers of the highest order. How many people do you know who are actual predators? How many people here get their own meat? And if you do raise cattle or swine or chickens for food, isn't it still being a scavenger if it's right there and all you have to do is kill it?

Mind you, firearms have given us a major advantage, and I have the most respect for bowhunters. The thing to consider is what do you do when you have brought down your prey? Do you use all of it that you possibly can? Or is it just a trophy? Do you pat yourself on the back and brag about it, or do you thank not only Divinity, but the life you have taken to enhance your own as well? Are you ethical as a hunter or a fisher? Do you try your hardest for a merciful kill? Yes, it is another life you are taking. But is it better to match your own wits against Divinity's creations, or is it better to lead a pig or cow or chicken onto the killing floor?

If we weren't meant to eat animals, they wouldn't have been made so tasty...They would taste terrible. Now Tofu, that stuff tastes nasty...

Then again, when you sit there and kill the poor defenseless vegetable that makes up your salad, do YOU stop to think about it? Plants also have consciousness, thinking about cutting a leaf is *more* torture to a plant than the actual cutting of the leaf...When you sit and slip teeth into a veggie burger, do you even pause to consider the life that *you* are snuffing out, the total victimization of something that can't even run away...For shame.

Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!

You have it backwards. It is our superior intelligence that allowed us to develop the tools and techniques to rise to the top of the food chain. Besides it was only when our ancestors began to eat high protein diets (i.e. meat) that our brain size and intelligence started to increase substantially. It's strange to me that some people forget that an animal eating another animal 100% part of the natural order. Does a cheetah victimize a gazelle when it brings it down to feed itself or is it just natures way? It's no more unatural when the human animal does it.

We were given a brain intelligent enough to do these things, though we are certainly not even nearly physically strong enough to be at the top of the food chain without are intellect. One wonders when nature decided to start focusing less on physical strength and more on mental strength.

It's basically because we sweat. Many animals don't sweat, though some do, and in the old days a grown man could run an animal to exhaustion. Thumbs also have a lot to do with it.

We were killing bambi long before we had guns. We would beat them to death with rocks.

We even trained other animals to help us kill and carry the meat. That is how we got our best buddies the dogs!

I agree with you that we are at the top of the food chain because we victimize animals. I agree that animals have souls and should be treated with respect.
The reason we are at the top of the food chain is because we shoot them, lock them up and torture them.
I don't think that we deserve it, and that we should just respect animals because this is their world too and we are trashing it, polluting it and putting our animals to the brink of extinction.

OK I'm with you as a fellow vegetarian, dude...

But more people eat meat than not, so you just might get an earful with this one.
