Instead of them saying to us, "you prayed in Jesus's name and that is offensive to us, so stop it" We could overturn the tables on them like Jesus did on the pharisees and say, "well, you didnt pray, and we find that to be offensive to us" ...yeah, each time we see someone not give thanks or mention Jesus at a commencemnt speech we could say, " hey, you offended us because you didnt mention Jesus' name" and we could go cry to uncle sam lile the athiest have done, until they enanct our beliefs on them. Would it work?

Nah, on second thought we'll just leave it up to Jesus to take care of when He returns in all of His glory, when He tramples out His vengeance where the grapes of wrath are stored. When He looses His faithful lightning of His terrible swift sword......His truth is marching on! Glory Glory Hallelujah!..And we will let Him cause every knee to bow both that are in heaven and in earth and say that JESUS is LORD! Sounds like a plan

No, let them have their way, they will get what they want, and the Christians will get what they have been promised. I pray in Jesus name and if that offends them, so what. if we show strife, it only enforces their unbelief.

the "tipping" element is once you the two ultimately understand in case you suspect in a god or no longer. you would be Christian and believe in evolution. think of approximately it, if god did exist and defined creation to a team of persons who had no thought what a gene, no longer to point a cellular became, he might extra advantageous than in all probability basically tell them a symbolic tale of how they have been created, no longer the medical explaination using evolution subsequently Genesis. Its basically like how father and mom tell a baby that toddlers come from storks till they are sufficiently previous to understand the biology at the back of it. yet truthfully, i became in no way incredibly Christian. i became raised in a Christian kinfolk and important different and young toddlers, yet i ought to in no way believe in something with out info considering i'm able to keep in mind (5 years previous), so constantly puzzled the god and the jesus characters.

Hello. I'm a Christian, too.
I see you've got a point here too but as Christians, we must love our neighbors although in this case, our neighbor does not love God. Well, I guess all we need to do now is to respect the atheists and agnostics and maybe we can gain each other's respect. It is written in the Bible that we must treat others the way we want them to treat us. If they do not want to make the first move, we, Christians, should. This is what God wants us to, right?
God bless! Always!

You were always that one kind of weird annoying kid in school weren't you.
The good part of our side however is that we recognize that there are many beliefs, 99% of which don't get to be the "special" cry baby one that wants IT to be the one that gets to step on everyone else. We know it's not just us. While some like you on the other hand can only think in terms of selfishness that the world is only yours.

No..we should not have pay back in our hearts. It is not what we are here for..we are here to prepare for eternity..to speak about the gospel..sow the seeds and leave everything else up to God. If we did as you say, we would be no better and there are enough people who see us as 'hypocrites' when in fact we are sinners as well ...we have to learn to be courteous to all....it is hard when it is not always in our nature..but we have to try..is paying back like this something Jesus would do?

Ah, so the true american christian agenda is finally revealed.
Seriously though, most atheists couldn't care less who you pray to, as long as you aren't trying to lead them in prayer. Most atheists just want to live a religion free life. Is that too much to ask?
Also, its against the foundations of this country to force someone to acknowledge one religion over all others. I know that christians are expert whiners, but I doubt you could complain loudly enough to get the leaders to change one of the very things that the US was founded on.

You ask; Would it work? Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Do you WANT atheists and/or nonbelievers and/or people of other religions "praying" in "Jesus' name"? I am NOT offended when nonbelievers don't use the name of Jesus. I would be disturbed it they DID.I am also not offended when they try to stop ME from using it. I expect spiritually dead people to act like spiritually dead people. I Am offended when spiritually alive people act like they are spiritually dead. That reflects on Christ. If my son was invited to give the commencement speech at graduation, and he was told that he could not mention the name of Jesus, I would just advise him to inform the school authorities that if HE gave the speech, he WOULD be using it. If they are uncomfortable with that, well then they will have to get another speaker. No lying about it, or "slipping" it in after agreeing not to. Just be straightforward about it. Last time I looked, changing political policy's and reforming governments, is not part of the Great Commission. Now, I understand that as citizens of a free democratic society, we have the political right to petition Government for redress and reform, if we believe that our constitutional rights are being violated. But that is NOT why we are here on this earth. As one preacher is fond of saying, we should be, "trying to take as many men, women, and children to heaven with us as we possibly can". Lets focus more on the "Eternal" and not the "temporal"....theBerean...P.S. TO BIBLE STUDENT07: After reading your added details & your profile I must add something. You say in your profile that you "word responses & questions in a style....beyond "reproach". Also, that you "rubuke in love, not in hate, "as some mistakenly percieve it". Your zeal is to be commended, your immuturity is not. You sound like a newborn christian. Jesus IS going to take vengence on His enemys. But I'm sure it is NOT something that He is going to do gleefully. Your "detail" section positivly "reeks" with joy at the prospect of nonbelievers "getting whats coming to them". There is a difference between feeling satisfied at the propect of Gods Holiness being vindicated and gleefully aticipating millions of people ( who were created in Gods Image) being turned into hell forever. Do you love these people? Or are you just looking forward to the day when "they get theirs"? Can you remember the way YOU were, before you became a Christian? Please re-read your Question and Details again. How would YOU have reacted to that when YOU were lost? There is a difference between WARNING people about judgment and WANTING them to "get theirs". Maybe you dont mean to come off that way. But you do. There are a lot of real Christians on the Y/A answers pages. If you think i'm wrong about how i'm portraying this, maybe you should ask them. Treating people with a little respect, is NOT compromise......theBerean

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion...." (Treaty of Tripoli, 1797.)
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...." U.S. Constitution, First Amendment.
Specific prayers at PUBLIC events would be established religion. (They're fine at PRIVATE events.)
If you don't like living in a country where PUBLIC events are not supposed to have denominational prayer, feel free to move. I'll help you pack.

Go ahead and "turn the tables."
Christians are like little kids, taunting the rest of the world because we don't have tricycles.
Guess what. Adults don't need tricycles.

You wouldn't be turning the tables on the atheists but the US Constitution instead. How unamerican of you to want your religion forced on others.
