Everyone has different opinions and i say as long as your not hurting anyone then live and let live.

IE pro-spayed and neuter, Anti-breeding people, Anti-docking and cropping, even those people that claim all people food is poisonous to dogs. These people use scare-tacktics into tricking you into believing their way is the best. Yes some of it is true, but educate yourself before with real scientific evidence before believing.

Anyone have similar difficulties with these people? Do you think they give dog owners a bad name?

Depends what its about. I am Pro and Anti to alot of things. I can argue heatedly and have alot of opinion but try to keep an open mind for others ideas. Unfortunately you are asking questions on a PUBLIC website. This is where everyone under the sun can reply and put in there opinion. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it. As much as you think your ideas and your ways are the correct one, they may not be. Who can define Normal? no one can cause no one is normal, its the same as who can define the correct way to live there life?

LOL Oh Lord, yes! I feed prey modeled raw so I'm not popular with alot of people. My dogs are happy and healthy so LEAVE ME ALONE! My neighbors have gotten over it at least and a few even switched their pets. I have learned to keep my opinions to myself on feeding raw. I just recommend that people at least feed a higher quality kibble and clean their dogs' teeth. If they ask for information about raw feeding then I am happy to share what I know.

I'm certainly not anti-breeding but I really wish people would quit making puppies have puppies. Let the dog grow up! Being responsible and health testing would definitely be nice. Taking their pups/dogs back instead of letting them go to the shelter would be wonderful. Unfortunately, these are my beliefs and if someone doesn't agree with them then there is nothing I can do. I will continue to try to educate people and hopefully some will care enough to listen.

As for altering/cropping/docking, everyone needs to come to their own conclusions. The question isn't whether it is right, it is whether it is right for that person and that dog. If they can responsibly care for an intact animal then that is their choice. If they want to crop/dock I ask that they please have a professional show them how or do it for them (dependant on the procedure).

In today's society of political correctness, sometimes the corrects are not necessarily the best educated on the topic. Unfortunately, there are a lot of stupid people in dogs--just look at some of the posted questions on this list. Yes, they all contribute the anti dog campaign that is around the country today. As you may know, Louisville, KY recently passed the strictest dog ordinance in the country, whereby no breeding of dogs for any reason is allowed. Failure to comply leads to a severe penalty. A similar House Bill in California will cause the breeding of dogs in that state to come to a drastic halt.

Sadly, because of the irresponsible dog owners and dog breeders out there, dog ownership itself is now at serious risk in this country.

I WANTED to comment..then I realized that at SOME point I have probably been that person who was convinced my way was right. But, having said that..
I am constantly reading different books, talking to different owners and trainers. The best thing about a dog is, every time you know it all..they change something, just to remind you that you don't. LOL I've been on a 4 yr learning curve with my pup!
BTW, your pup is very cute.
p.s. what IS your stance on spaying/nuetering, breeding, docking, etc? ;-)

absolutely, everyone has something to say about your dog, and what they think about any animal, eg I own a bullmastiff and live in a elite neighborhood, when I brought her home 1 neigbor is convinced that this is the dog that killed the woman in CA and because she looks mean she is, ok people read about the breed before you start your comments, now I am afraid the neigbors will protest my dog and make stories up because they are assuming bad things about my dog, and she is friendly as can be, I don't listen anymore and just laugh and now I am playing headgames with them so they will leave me alone. I know what you are saying. :0) Remember people always focus on the bad.

Yes I do !!!! As you say, as long as they are not hurting anyone, live and let live, BUT....There are ALWAYS going to be LOTS of people (some very pompous, some not), who are CONVINCED their way is the ONLY way. It's rather sad that they are not openminded enough to realize that there just MIGHT be a better way. They are missing out on lots of things in life, and sometimes endangering their pets, but people are people, just as dogs are dogs, so I just TRY to let it go

I say if what you are doing is working in training and taking care of your dog than it is a good idea. Also remember that not all dog's are the same so that's why people are like that. Or they just think that they know everything.

Yep there are a lot of close minded people who think they know alot but do not. Well at least not alot of factual information. Most of the time it is not worth arguing because they will never change.

Happens with how your raise your children, what you eat (try having someone eating a cheesestake tell you your rice casserole and salad is garbage food), what you do on your day off, and HEAVEN help the poor sod who get a cold at my work (guaranteed its your fault)!
