No, because mankind has not gotten more "intelligent" over the centuries. Instead record keeping and science and technology have advanced to where people today are sometimes under the delusion that people who lived long ago just were not as smart as we are today.

Instead, what the act of using computers demonstrates is that it is ludicrous to think that the end result of random chance acting upon inanimate matter through natural forces was intelligent beings using complex technological devices.

I wonder what Plato or Socrates would think about people who believed in the theory of macro-evolution.

Not of the evolution of intelligence so much as the evolution of our tools, which is more of a cultural change rather than a biological one.

The explosion in sources of information isn't necessarily matched by a corresponding increase in critical or rational thinking abilities - which I reckon could be problematic.

Trash culture is still trash culture, even at 56 kilobytes per second.
