Saddam was killing his own people? Yes, after we provoked them into rebellion--just as we did in Cuba's Bay of Pigs. Don't let the neocons fool you. Saddam was killing some people, but big whoop. Lots more people were getting killed in Rwanda, lots more are now being killed in Darfur, and we don't give a damn about any of them.

We have trained many of the world's most vicious and ruthless terrorists, in our School of the Americas. Thousands of Nicaraguans were raped, tortured, and killed by our graduates from that school. We slaughtered two million gooks in Vietnam. We waxed fifty thousand ragheads at the Mutlah Ridge massacre. As for terrorism itself, when Bill Casey was director of the CIA he bombed a mosque in Iraq that killed dozens of women and children. When we kill lots of people, they're all just "colateral damage."

Why is Iraq so interesting? You got the answer above: Operation Iraqi Liberation. :) Plus numerous permanent military bases in the region to secure our interests. That's why. Actually, both of these are secondary benefits. The primary benefit has been the transfer of $400 billion from the federal deficit into the private sector--corporate coffers. Halliburton, KBR, Aegis Defense, Bechtel, Blackwater, Titan, CACI, SAIC, Custer Battles, yada yada. Deficit spending has always been one sure way to stimulate the economy, at least until it comes time to pay the piper.

Because they need help. Even though our initial reasons for entering the war were false, we can't leave now. I really do want our troops to come home, I feel for them all, and tear for the fallen, but I guess the politicians don't want to keep them there and ignore the fact that we started something there and need to finish it. If we leave now, there will be so much chaos and anarchy in Iraq, no doubt.

I'll try to make it simple for you:
Instead of Al-Quaeda and Saddam, look at it as the Bloods and Crips. Both go around murdering innocent people. Till finally we get sick of it and decide to do something about it. So if we are going to go into LA to wipe out the Bloods, why not kill all the Crips too? Both are evil murdering bastards. Sure, they hate each other, and kill each other, but mostly they kill a bunch of innocent people.

Get it? Why go half way around the world just to kill Al-Queada? Why not kill all the other evil murdering bastards while we are there? Kill two birds with one stone and make people all over the world safer in the process.
