How could I tell?

I've forgotten to attend some of my classes. I feel that when I gave my professors excuses I exaggerated them. I'm failing. I don't care, but I do. I'm not attentive at all and I no longer learn as quickly. Excuses, excuses. Is my 3 month depression a cover up or am I really sick?

You need to decide for yourself how you are feeling. It is not anyone's job other than yourself to decide if you are feeling guilty, sad, angry or anxious.

That being said, there was an old word in psychology that described people who could not describe how they were feeling. That word was "alexithymia," literally "no talking about emotions. In the old Freud-style psychology, this was a manifestation of someone who repressed feelings and emotions. However, nowadays the belief is that people with "alexithymia" actually just lack the vocabulary or willingness to describe and experience their emotions.

As always, discuss these and any questions with your physician. Good luck.

I really think you should go to a psychiatrist. That sounds like a mental health thing to me. Just check it out to be sure. Might as well. Lack of interest is a sign of depression.

Guilt is a feeling of remorse and you probably would wish you could undo what you did. A good way to get rid of guilt is to undo as much as you can and apologize to those whom you have harmed or hurt, except when it would cause you further problems. Good.
