There are a few reasons as to why dogs will eat grass:
- Some people believe that it aids in digestion
- Some people argue that dogs simply enjoy the taste!
- Dogs eat grass when they have upset stomachs in order to induce vomiting.
The grass can act as an irritant so once the food is expelled the dog will feel better.

Some dogs frequently eat grass and don't throw up afterward. They may either just like the taste or feel they need some roughage in their diet, this usually pertains to dogs who are thoroughly chewing the grass before swallowing it. It also aids dogs with upset stomachs who need to purge their systems, if they don't chew the grass all the way then the prickly stems of the grass irritate their stomach linings and cause them to vomit. With your dog it sounds like she just needs a little more greenery in her diet, so letting her eat some grass is fine.

Dogs commonly eat grass, and there are several explanations that have been offered for this behavior. One, wild canids (e.g., wolves and fox) eat all of an animal when they catch it. Since they eat many herbivores (plant-eating animals), they end up eating a lot of grasses and plants that were in the intestines of these animals. In addition, they have been known to eat certain berries and other plant material. Dogs then, may eat grass because, in reality, it is a normal part of their diet.
Many times, dogs will vomit after eating grass. Did they eat grass to make them vomit? Or did they vomit because they ate grass? It is a mystery, but it seems that some dogs may eat vegetation when they have an upset stomach.
The third reason - they just like it. Some dogs have certain species of grass or plant material that they will search out and eat. We know a beagle who can pick raspberries faster than his owner.
In any case, grass eating is basically a normal behavior, and is not of concern unless your dog does it excessively.

there are numerous reasons.
Dogs can eat grass if they feel sick. It helps to bring up the bug from their stomach. Though don't try this yourself!!!!
They will also eat grass as a part of their diet!

The grass your dog eats aids in digestion and helps calm its stomach. My dog was a shepard mix and he used to eat grass to. German shepards are cool dogs : )

Grass helps with their digestive system, so they don't get backed up or help them with vomiting. Like pigeon eating pebbles, it breaks down the food better. You can buy like these herb plants that look like grass especially made for pets to eat (even cats) to help with their digestive system and they really like. It recommended by vets, especially old pets to each these kind of plants.

Dogs are known to eat a lot of grass when their stomachs are upset. It helps with digestion, and don't be suprised if your dog vomits within the next few hours if she hasn't already. If she does, she will probably be fine, but if she doesn't seem like herself by tomorrow I would call the vet.

Two reasons. One: because they like it. and two: in many dogs it causes them to vomit if they are nauseous to begin with. Just like us, dogs feel better immediately after vomiting. A dog learned in the past that eating grass makes it vomit and being smart animals they remember.
