There was a show on the cooking channel that did interviews with some of the cooks and they talked about how things were done prior to the show and taping, and yes her chicken was clean. She purchases the food brings it home/to the kitchen and washes what she is going to cook for the taping of the show. That way you really get to see the 30 min. meal being cooked other than that it would run into overtime because of the prep time. ;)

Actually, most experts now recommend NOT washing the chicken before cooking it...it will actually spread the bacteria (if there is any present) over the entire chicken, or piece of chicken. I know that may sound strange, but it's a fact.
Hmm..also as long as you are cooking the chicken correctly, the bacteria will all be killed...

Think of the peps in the back
they do have a job back there. Right?
But ya, the cooks don't do all the stuff, or else they will have like about 10 minutes added to the show time.

clean the chicken?? if you mean wash it i sould sure hope they dont! washing meat in water is horrible for it, it messes with the integrity of the skin, removes flavor etc. You're gonna cook it, that gets rid of the bacteria, never wash meat. I went to culinary school and in our meat cutting class some students made the mistake of rinsing it, the chef was so angry.

The chefs don't, but their lowly paid minions do it. Then they package it like it's right out of the original wrapping. It's all a big gimmick.
