Yahoo UK is genuine (http://uk.yahoo.com/ ) but the letter you received isn't.

There's a large number of similar scams that often use the names of established and trusted companies including Yahoo, Microsoft, Dell, Coca Cola etc. They're after one of two things - your money and / or your identity.

You will be asked to provide personal information about yourself and your bank account. When you replied back if you provided this information then get in touch with your bank and the police immediately.

Don't reply to any further e-mails you receive. If you provided a phone number and anyone rings you then hang up.

This is most definitely a scam...Yahoo anywhere in the world do not do anything where you will win that amount of money. If you are unsure about anything like this ALWAYS check before you answer any letter or email saying you have won some money. The people sending these letters out are con artists and besides stealing your identity, if you give them any bank details they will take all your money as well.

I can assure you that if any of these types of letters and emails were genuine, then myself and a lot of other people would be multi-millionaires by now because of the amount of times we are supposed to have "won" some money or "inherited" some money too....or even been invited to help someone get some money out of a foreign country for a share of the millions just sitting in a bank vault waiting for someone with a different bank account to help release it....these are all SCAMS.
