I am going to put about 1- 1 1/2 gallon of punch in a glass punch bowl with about 2 pounds of dry ice? Will that be too cold for the glass, and break it??

No. You would have to freeze solid the liquid before any fear of possibly breaking that bowl. That is not going to happen. The 1 1/2 gallons of punch has too much heat for the small amount of dry ice.

You don't want your drink to come in contact with dry ice. Despite the fact the cold sanitizes it, it's not very clean. As it melts, it'll release dirt and other foreign matter into your drink.

And it will break the punch bowl.

It might be ok if it's a pyrex punch bowl.

but why not just freeze some of the punch in a tupperware bowl, turn it out, and use that for the ice? (then it won't dilute as it melts).
