well, i guess it's not as black and white. i know that i would. my son's dad did live here for a number of years. he went back east to live with his fam, (mom, dad, sisters) basically his home town. he is supportive always with our son. we haven't been together in a long long time, but are good friends and would be even if we didnt' have a child. we are both responsible people and love our son dearly. i have always put my son first. what ever he needs i do. its my job, i'm his mom. i dont' spoil him, he's a hard working kid, on his own. needs no motivation from me. takes his own enitiative to get things done. if we were to move we would move into his dads place, he has a house on the outskirts of town. and has offered us to live there before. i would be able to find work easily and probably would there as well as it is a very populated area. all my family and friends are here. so i would have to leave all them behind.

My best friend just moved from the West coast to the East coast to be with his two children. Their mother relocated because of her job, but he left a lucrative career to be with his kids.

Is the father a good parent ?
Will the father be living there awhile or does he move with his job a lot ?
Is relocation within your budget ?
More info needed than you provided . . .

I would wonder why the father couldn't move closer instead.

Why disrupt the life of 2+ people when the father, probably still single, could easily move.
