It sounds like you have an allergic reaction to them. If your lips get itchy or even a little puffy and swollen afterwards, most likely you're just allergic to something in these fruits.
There are certain fruits like kiwis, cherries, bananas, avacados, plums, and some others that can be linked with latex allergy. Just because you are allergic to those fruits does not mean that you are for sure allergic to latex.
If you really want to know what's wrong, I suggest going to a doctor and having them find out for you. They're going to be able to provide the most accurate and specific answers to you.

I have the same problem with all of those and avocados. I was told it has to do with the stuff in the fertilizer they use on these fruits. It can lead to a latex allergy, but so far that hasn't occurred to me. I would check with your doctor, but I still continue to eat these things.

I used to have that problem too. It is called oral allergy syndrome. Are you also allergic to pollen, especially ragweed? My allergy was so bad that just getting melon juice on my skin would make me break out. My allergies to those things went away after getting allergy desensitation shots for five years.

It does sound like you are allergic to them. Please do not continue to eat them until after you see your physician ... and DO see your physician.
