I laid down for about 3 hours this afternoon and slept. I have taken Acetaminophen, drank a glass of iced tea.
I have photophobia and have been sitting around in the lounge chair with a towel over my face with the TV on. It seems to have gotten better, but not completely gone. What do you suppose is causing my headache and what do people do to make them go away? If I wake up tommorrow like this I will be crazy. I need this to go away.

Im a busy RN and work 13-16 hours in a hospital 4 days a week and answering questions has become a hobby. I dont drink, smoke, gamble or have any other bad habits. I doubt question answering has anything to do with my headache.
Its actually very relaxing. I have worked in the hospital for many years, but this headache has me baffled. I just think someone may have some idea about what to do for this headache. You know herbal medicine, or some trick up their sleeve.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy & YOG, but how can you manage pl see. I feel that a glass of cocoanut water at early morning can solve your problem if you have no cough or common cold.
Acupressure for acute H/A works nicely. Search a painful point behind your thumb nail(any) three to 10 mm away. Press that point couragiously or ask others to do it; it will pain for a moment but H/A WILL DISAPPEAR WITHIN A FEW SECONDS!
You try one herbal remedy IF H/A IS CHRONIC - two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.

Based on the amount of time you spend answering questions, shut the computer off for a couple days. Stay lying down take a couple more aspirin, if it still around in morning you better see doctor.
Headaches are caused by a lot of different things ex, caffeine withdrawal, blood clot, vision problems, stress, lack of sleep & on & on.....
My wife has to take low dose aspirin to thin blood every few months to prevent clotting in the brain. My severe ones come from not drinking coffee after a couple days.

As an RN & you work 13-16hrs a day, then you already know that 8hrs of sleep a day are a minimum recommendation for healthy living. You aren't even home that much. Perhaps your brain telling you enough is enough I need a break.
Hopefully today it is gone away & all this is just redundant fodder

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

go take some aleve or Tylenol and drink a glass of water and if you haven't ate then that's probably causing it and then take a soothing bath or shower and take a nape.
