Good heavens.
The idea of a religious figure attempting to
abuse power is hardly limited to the
African-American 'ethnic' grouping.
Take a look at all the white-pastor 'Pearly Gate'
scandals whcih occured in the 1980s & 1990s
(Jim & Tammy Faye Baker; Oral
Roberts; Jimmy Swaggert; etc.)
.

all pastors of all races and cultures, are about power, God is power. They don't let you out much do they? The next time they do, go to some other churches. Turn on your tv early on sunday and watch the christian programs. You may be surprised to find out that power is the topic. The power to overcome, the power to change your life, the power to forgive yourself for doubting that God gave us the power to live a better life thru faith and prayer. the power of positive thinking was not written by an african american. I could go on, I think you get the picture
I have that power you know.( Is this a black thing???)
I know, this one of those trick questions.

What kind of power? Like TD Jakes? It's good to hear when he's making people feel powerful and not defeated by life. Something wrong with that? I've seen a white preacher act like people better listen to him or they're going to hell. That kind of power scares me.

I think that stuff trancends race. But I don't get how Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton seem to enjoy striking fear into the media, and buisness. What does that have to do with religion?

I"m confused about what you mean. Are you talking about the power of God, the power of Christians or their own need to dominate.

Messages of empowerment an prosperity are appealing to their demographic. Just look at Fred Price. He actually calls himself a doctor, even if his degree is merely honorary.

It is a racist viewpoint to generalize such a statement without proving it. I might just as well say Bread is poisonous, since virtually everyone who eats it dies.
