Alan Turing was the man singlehandedly most responsible for defeating the Nazis in WWII by breaking the Germans' Enigma Code. And he also was responsible for laying down much of the groundwork for computers.

But he was a homosexual. And eventually he committed suicide because the British chose to prosecute him just for being gay, despite all that he had done to help them win the war.

So even though what he contributed to the world probably saved millions of lives back then AND has enriched your life now (you're typing entries on a device that he played a large role in developing), is he burning in hell because he was gay?

LOL, given your answer, I'm not at all surprised that you never heard of him.

So it was GOD who stopped the war? I see, so he couldn't use his power to PREVENT it, but he stepped in to stop it?

LOLOL do you realize how ludicrous your answer is?

If there is a benevolent god, a heaven and a hell, I seriously doubt anyone would be in hell just for being gay. Providing, of course, that its a benevolent god and not a petty malevolent one.

Your question is essentially a rephrasing of one of the fundamental spiritual questions: what does it take to get into heaven?

Since you asked this question to Christians, I'm going to assume that you want to hear the Biblical viewpoint. Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God (heaven)." Basically, it doesn't matter if you're homosexual or an upstanding citizen. We have all broken God's laws at some point. Jesus said that everyone who hates someone has committed murder in his heart. He also said that everyone who looks at someone lustfully has committed adultery with them in his heart. By that standard, I'm pretty sure that if you're living and breathing, you've fallen short of a standard of perfection. The Bible tells us that God is perfect and cannot allow imperfection in his presence. The consequence of being imperfect is separation from God. This is why Jesus came: to live a perfect life and to take the consequences for our imperfection. If we choose to accept that, when God looks at us, our imperfection is covered by Jesus' perfection. Thus, we are accepted into the presence of God (heaven).

Sorry for the long answer. To summarize, it doesn't matter what you do in life, whether you're a thief or a philanthropist. What matters is what Jesus did for you, and whether you accept that.

I thought god was forbidden to interfere with the war - free choice and all. If he can stop the war, can he stop the rape and murder of kids, too?

The only way to heaven is Jesus. I think he is in hell because if had accepted Jesus in his heart, he would not be gay. This is only my thought and I am christian. I could be wrong.
