I agree, I think it was very stupid that Tony got fined for skipping the media. He is a race car driver first, not a tv personality. If he didn't want to do interviews that should be his choice. Now, I love NASCAR but I think they were just mad that Tony didn't come over and go off like he normally does. So instead of that story, they had to blow this one out of proportion. Oh well, its not like the $10000 is going to hurt him.

1st Munky doesn't know crap. We all know Stewart is always complaining. Then he does the opposite of what he says.
NASCAR is all image BABY!!! if you don't have PIR then you loose the Image. NASCAR is about connecting with the Fans and they are the best about it. All the racers generally have good personality's unlike other sports. Tony can't get pissed. about the Calls NASCAR made. Stewart put himself in that position to lose, and Gordon was at the right place at the right time. Which all of us true fans understand that's part of the game. How many times have we've all seen your guy get caught up in a wreck he was not involved with originally? (wrong place wrong time).

When Tony signed on to race Nextel Cup, he signed on to abide by the rules as governed by NASCAR. One of those rules is that each of the top three finishing drivers must report to the media room after the race for interviews. Tony decided to bail on that. I have no doubt he knew the consequences but as you said, the fine is pennies to him anyway. No doubt NASCAR is more concerned about his comments on his radio show, but there is nothing in the rules to prevent speaking your mind. One might wonder if Tony might have trouble getting his car through inspection at Talladega though, or perhaps one of those "phantom" cautions will be timed just right to bite him in the butt.
Personally I think the worst thing about the whole deal is the way Tony clawed back his comments (which were clearly legitimate to any follower of the sport). It's a bit embarassing to eat the words you said even though you know they are true. Looks like another driver has bowed to the heirarchy at NA$CAR.

No, it's not. It is MANDATORY for the top-three finishers to speek to the media. It is in Tony's contract with JGR as well. He did not fulfill his duties, and he deserves to be penalized. If you skipped a part of your job becuase you felt like throwing a temper tantrum instead, wouldn't your boss punish you?? Mine would.
Plus, probation is not new to him. He has only finished one year NOT on probation!! (Last year). And, the fine will be returned to him, at least partially. All the money from the fines go into the "point fund" which is distributed at the end of the year, based on where you finish in points. I bet the worst part of the whole thing for Tony was having to be up and in a meeting at 6:00 AM!
Thanks, Know-it-all! I appreciate someone agreeing with me!

nothing to worry about. There just being pissy because he skipped out on the meeting. If it was Gordon or Johnson (The crybabies of the league) nothing would have been done.

Considering it's in his contract with Gibbs Racing, I'm surprised his boss didn't sideline him for a race.
