I do... I think it was created to control and manipulate. I believe that most christians are hipocrits and I actually feel sorry for them. I believe organized religion is a legal way of theft from a trusting congregation. Shame on you all you pastors and "word of god spreaders" living in million dollar homes...

I see the bible as a collection of metaphorical stories, mixing ancient mythology with touches of past history, which was perverted by power-mad leaders who wanted to design an obedient armies to seize land and property and smite "mine enemies" because "God likes me best".

Seems that way on TV, doesn't it? But for every "word of God spreader" living in million dollar homes, there are plenty of Christians who lead honest lives, and do their best to follow the Word and treat people with respect and decency. Tell me, which story makes for better CNN coverage, the televangelist who swindled millions of dollars from trusting people, or the average Christian who volunteers selflessly, quietly helping those in need? Like everything else in the media, the emphasis is usually on the bad stuff. That is what sells.

I'm a Christian. I've been attending church regularly for 5 years. Before that, I was an atheist. I've found that churches are just like the rest of the world. They're made up of people. Some are good people, some are bad. But I sincerely believe if you were to take a 1000 member congregation and stack them up against a random 1000 people from the general population, you would find a higher percentage of kind, caring people in the churchgoing group. That has been my experience, at least.

No, I don't think all of the Bible is utter crap. There are some (note, I said some) good teachings in it. It is what people do with it that is utter crap. The people I am around everyday, Christians at work, friends who are christians, etc... do not act this way, but then, most of them are not really in Mainstream. But here? They claim they do not act in the way so many Non-Believers say they do... then they turn around and act that way towards a Non-Believer. And then try to justify it with the Bible. It's pathetic, really. *Not all, but it seems to be the majority*

I agree on the point about pastors living in million dollar homes. Modesty, in the Bible, is not just what clothes you wear. =)

You are projecting a modern view of the Bible back in time. In the 4th century, for example, the Bible held little or no authority over the Churches. The Bible could not have been used to control anyone until just about 200 years ago.

As for the Bible being "utter crap," I'm sure I understand what you are saying. Do you deny the fact that the Bible is a compilation of ancient religious and historical texts?!

I don't agree with you at all. But it's ok. You have just not learned the truth yet.
I do agree that a lot of "religious" people are hypocrites and that is sad. I know that more people need to practice what they preach for sure. It is hard to live a good life and to not judge or sin. It is way easier to be human and not care about others but ya know what? It is not right.
I am a Christian, I give to the church, I give to the needy, I would give my last dollar to a stranger. How can you say that is wrong?

Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Everything we do is for love of God and love of neighbor. Collections are never taken at our meetings. Jehovah's Witnesses are known Worldwide for preaching the good news of the Kingdom. This is what really stood out to me when I walked into a Kingdom Hall for the first time. It's not about money. It's about learning what the Bible teaches and drawing close to Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ. The Bible is a loving letter from our Father to us his children.

Could you possibly be a bigger bigot?

CHRISTIANS - bible believing CHRISTIANS suffered and died so that YOU - little miss charming - might have equal rights. The right to fair pay. The right to a job other than being a mother and baby maker. The right to vote.

Christians were the first to speak out against slavery. Good Christians fought to end it.

Christians were the first to speak for animal rights. The first animal hospital was founded by a christian.

The secular world doesn't care.

You are correct. Christianity, like most organized religions, plays on the natural fear of death and the unknown. People are told that if they walk the right line, they'll be granted eternal salvation. Those gullible enough to believe are the ones who buy into this lunacy. Those bright enough to question it are branded "immoral heathens" and are allegedly doomed to burn in eternal hell fire.

Christianity is a selfish religion. Love and treating others as they should be treated has little to do with it (as history shows us time and time again). Many Christians adhere to dogma, not morality. The intention is to "save your own butt", not to make the world a better place.

Just think of how many Christians believe that "accepting Christ" is the only prerequisite required to get into Heaven. In other words, atheists who spend much of their lives working as humanitarians are doomed to hell, but a child rapist priest who begs forgiveness from God will find eternal salvation.

It's a pretty sick mentality if you ask me.

I think that the christian teachings are out of date. they were made to bring and maintain order 2000 years ago to facilitate the growth of society. God has given new teachings that make more sence for people today. The baha'i faith has those teachings, and they wont take money from non-baha'i's and have no clergy.
