I am a permanent resident of Canada, and I might have to stop at a US airport for four hours to change my flight carrier.

you might also want to check with the us consulate near you.. some indivduals may require a transit visa when transiting through a us airport...

No, all you need is your passport and a second piece of government identification like a drivers license or something.. The only time you would need a visa for any country you do not reside in is if you were to want to work there during your travels...like if you were to stay in the US for a while before going to australia.. Thou its only good for so long which sucks lol.

No you do not- if you are just switching planes and are not leaving the airport you do not need a visa.

No. Canadians don't need a visa to visit the US.
