Unless you have a lot more money than I do, I wouldn't give more than $20 to each of them.

depends if you are of the same religion and attend the same church, if not $20 would be acceptable $10 for each child,in Australia people do not give money for a child's communion party after the event at a church, usually they are there for support at the church and then go back to the persons house
for a lunch if they are invited or is a party. A gift is given to the child/ren from their parents, like a crucifix or rosary beads. To ask for money from friends is highly rude and i would be
insulted.

Not sure what area of the country you are in but a min. of $20.00 here in the northeast would be acceptable. It depends on how close you are to these kids. It's a sacrament to catholics, and there are several - so it's not the only sacrement a child goes thru - you could give $25.00 or $30.00 each if you are a little close to them. $50.00 would be high here.
