If a sentence says " Los estudiantes estan triste" is there supposed to be an s at the end of triste

General rule: if the word ends with a vowel, add an "s". Otherwise, add "es".
casa=casas
conversación=conversaciones
triste=tristes
blanco=blancos
azul=azules
lección=lecciones
árbol=árboles

so, triste should also be plural = tristes
