My doctor noticed a "thickening" in both of my breasts last week. She sent me for an ultrasound right away. Today her office called me and she wants me to come in Tuesday morning re the ultrasound.
Now I'm freaking out. When I was 28 I was diagnosed with skin cancer-everyone told me its nothing, that I'm too young to have cancer. They were wrong. I'm only 30...and there is no history of breast cancer in my family. How do I stay positive about this?

conusj - How did you find the treatments? Did you ever feel like you weren't going to make it? I'm so scared, I was reading online that women diagnosed younger then 40 often have the most aggressive bc.

Try not to worry is really hard but theres no sence in worrying till you are giving something to worry about.

I was diagosed in April of 2005 (I was 34) and I remember how hard it was not worry while I was waiting for my results. I think the unknown is always worse then known!

It's been 2 years since my diagnoses and I'm doing great! Cancer Free!

So please know that even if it is cancer there is hope!

Debbie... my story is actually pretty long. My cancer was very aggressive. BUT I'm good now.... when I had my surgery there was no evidence of cancer in any of the tissue removed. I did chemo first.

Did I even think I wasn't going to make it? You know I really didn't let my self go there. I had a hard and long battle but I have an amazing husband, young son, friends, doctors and nurses supporting me. Please feel free to click on my profile and email me (I changed that feature so you could), I would be more then happy to give your more details and support you!

I am 52. I've always had "thickening" in my breast from Fibrocystic tumors...harmless, but uncomfortable at times. I had an ultra sound done this morning. The radiologist pretty much told me it's cancer. I'm due for a biopsy next Wednesday. Will get the results about this time next week. I have so much coming up in the next two months. All I can think about is how this is going to affect the rest of the family. My youngest son graduates in three weeks from College(I won't miss that). My husband has already made plane reservations for Vegas at the end of June. He wants to celebrate his 60th birthday there(we go a couple of times a year, but this is special). My graduating son is suppose to commission in the Air Force in October. If I have to go through surgery and chemo and all that other crap, I just don't know if I'll be able to make it to anything after the May graduation. I haven't told my husband yet. I will not tell my sons anything till after the baby's graduation. The radiologist said "let's take it a step at a time". How can you do that, when she said that she's pretty sure something is there...I have to make plans. I can understand how you must feel, having the little ones and being alone. Just for the record, you are never too young to have cancer. I was also told that cancer "doesn't hurt"...my left breast has been very tender for months. I thought it was the cysts. Good Luck to you....stay active.

Debbie, I feel for you! I was blessed to have mammogram, ultrasound and when they found something, a biopsy all on the same day. The waiting for the results part was really really hard. I called and left my doctor a message that it was ok for her to call me and tell me the results over the phone. I was at work when she finally called to tell me the bad news. That was 3 years ago.

Please try to think positive thoughts. Even if you are diagnosed with cancer, it isn't the end of the world. My sister was 36 when she was diagnosed. She didn't have to have chemo or radiation, just a mastectomy and reconstruction. I was 49, and my cancer was more aggressive but it's in remission now. I had surgery, chemo and radiation. It's all pretty scary, but lots of people get it and live to have enjoyable lives.

If you want someone to talk to, contact me.

I just went through this two weeks ago. And I had a benign growth removed. They might want to do a biopsy, is all, and many doctors offices just won't discuss things with someone over the phone, the insist they come in to the office. She probably just wants to discuss what you do have, which could be fibro-cycstic breasts (benign thickening and fibrous tissue in the breast that they usually leave alone). So if there is something there at all , they will want to look at it, either by removing it or withdrawing some fluid from it. They just want to make sure.

I totally understand where you are coming from, I had a biopsy last week to have a lump removed. (Thank God it was benign) Go to webmd.com. They have a message board called Breast Cancer: Friend to Friend. The people on there are survivors, people with breast cancer, and family members. They are very supportive, caring, and wonderful people.

They'll help. They did me.

God Bless, and praying for good results!
