Paal McGoogle a prominant behind the scenes Democrat is urging all eligible voters to reregister as a Republican. Don't know the reason but I can take a few guesses. One would be to embarrass the Republican party in the event they lose the 2008 elections with a huge advantage in voter registrations. What is your opinion on this? If you are a Democrat are you going to reregister as a Republican?

I've been a moderate Democrat all my life so I doubt i'm going to become a Republican anytime soon. I must admit though, the more my party acts like children, the more I tend to vote Republican.

This is a common tactic used by both parties in districts where one party is trying to influence the outcome of primary or special election. In districts where there is an overwhelming majority for one party the minority party may try and influence the election by supporting a candidate of the other party who they approve of more than the other. Essentially since the party primary will decide the outcome of the election and the general election is just a formality Democrats may try and influence the outcome by registering as a Republican and voting for the most liberal of Republicans. Conversely Republicans would do the opposite and vote for the more conservative Democrat.

I'd have to see some sort of proof about this and because it's your question i'm not going to look it up. If it's true prove it. Though it would be pretty stupid on this Paal McGoogles' part because each party gets an amount of money from the federal government for each registered party member, only registered dems and reps can go to the convention as voting delegates and only registed dems and reps can vote in the primary process. If this Mcgoogle is really a prominant Dem and he's been doing this I don't think he will be a prominat Dem for long.

Could it be that only those registered as Republican can vote in a Republican primary and pick the parties candidate?

I helped John F Kerry get the democratic nomination because he seemed the weakest candidate. I'll help Hillary get the nod in '08.

He must be pretty far behind the scenes, as the name does not appear in a Google search, and not so prominent as I have never heard of him either. I even tried several variants on the thought you might have misspelled it.

Since Republicans seem to have acquired the ability to have 130% turn out in some places, and vote heavily in favor of gay marriage while voting for the candidate opposing it, and many such options indicating voting strength far in excess of their numbers, such a program would be counterproductive and not likely encouraged by any thinking Democrat, behind the scenes or otherwise.

By democrats voting in republican primaries, they're going to vote for the weakest candidate, so when election rolls around, their is some moron who has no business doing so, representing the republicans. This makes their candidate look sooo great, and I'm glad there's actually proof that democrats are encouraging it, but how dare we question them on it.

It may have to do with the ability to vote in the primaries. He may feel that some of the Republican candidates are too extreme and wishes to reduce that chances of them getting the nomination. Some states won't let non-party members vote in primaries.

A Democrat registering as a Republican is treason and must not be done just to rig elections.

It means you register as a republican and vote out their best candidate in the primary.

Democrat. ACORN is registering homeless and down-and-out human beings to vote for Obama. They see those human beings, a number of whom are literally not even authentic human beings, as a Democratic vote production unit. it really is a shame and a contravention of our maximum elementary perfect: the right of loose elections.
