My brother-in-law insists that eleanor the "67 shelby mustang gt 500" is a cobra, I say it is just "shelby mustang gt 500" who is right or are thay both the same.

The one in the movie is a 67 GT500. In 68 Shelby made the GT500 KR with the 428 Cobra Jet engine.
Technically the movie version was just a regular 67 Mustang customized to look like a GT500 by CVS, there were 12 total.

cobras did not exist until 70s
the particular car in the movie was a 67-68 fastback mustang. (not shelby gt500king of the road). there is a company in texas producing the exact replica of eleanor from the movie. ther are making aroun 100 units a year and guess what.... they're using 67 and 68 mustangts to build the legendary eleanor.
so be sure it's a mustang gt converted into shelby mustang gt 500 eleanor.

The movie car is not a real Shelby Mustang. Look up pictures on the internet. A real Shelby KR500 looks a lot better than the movie car. Its just another Hollywood car to wreck. The car is made from a stock 1967 68 fastback Mustang, ashame the studios would wreck such a rare car, not a lot of fastbacks around.

In 67 the Mustangs were Shelby GT350, and GT500.
The Cobra was a two passenger sports car.

eleanor is just a 1967 ford mustang shelby gt500. there were no mustang cobras in 1967. the cobra stuff didnt come around 'till the mustang II's of the late 70's.

The only race that I have ever seen an Eclipse win is the one to the junk yard. My Miata can toast one on the roads around here, and the ones that try to keep up, end up with more body damage then the Porsche did in Herbie the Love Bug. An Eclipse kissing a tree is not a pretty sight to see. Get real!
