I am going to my brothers confirmation tomorrow. I haven't been to the church in a long while. I remember going up to the priest, or the Eucharistic(sp?) Minister....but what I am supposed to say/do is what I am seriously drawing a blank on. I do not want to embarass myself or my family tomorrow by doing something wrong.

First of all, you need to go to confession before you receive Communion. It is a GREAT disrespect to receive Communion if you are not in a state of grace. If you feel uncomfortable going to confession, you cannot receive communion. Simply go in the Communion line, and when you get to the Priest, cross your arms and the Priest will give you a blessing instead. There is nothing shameful about this, and it is very common.

However, if you go to Confession, simply put your hands out, and the priest will give you Communion. After he says "The Body of Christ", you say "Amen". It's that easy.

Here are the few simple steps you must do,and it is up to yourself to be honest;
1. Go to the sacrament of Confession
2. Partcipate with the people in the responses during the Mass.
3. Keep in your mind that it is truly Christ in the Eucharist,and at communion time when the people go up to recieve join them.
4.When the Priest or Eucharistic Minister holds up the sacred Host they will simply say to you` The Body of Christ` to which you should answer with` Amen`
5.Return to your seat and say your thanksgiving.

If you haven't been to Church in a long time, you need to Confess. However, you want to receive Communion only if you truly want to receive Jesus Christ, not just because it is a big family occasion.
You can still receive on your tongue, or in your hand.

If it is as you state then why do you even bother?...clearly it has no meaning for you... do not pretend... just decline to participate... you insult God by pretending... The Roman practice is incorrect anyway... And the teaching of that cult will not get anyone into Heaven
