If you buy a copy of Stong's concordance, which list the occurances of all words in the Bible in their context, the number of appearances of "the" is so high, that it just list the references, but not the context.

Well, before people started changing it so much and taking God's name out and replacing it with LORD, his name - Jehovah, was in there some 7,000+ times.

Hard to say...the old testament was not written in English, so that would be difficult to say.
