Ok, so my friends brother did a little pot, but didnt get caught and told his gf because he was sorry he did it and didnt want to do it again, she got really mad and so far isnt talking to him. But my question is after someone does something really bad and then asks for forgivness without be told to, can the person be forgiven for being honest?

In this case, he absolutely should be forgiven, as he has promised he would not do so again. Just what holier-than-thou little girlfriend has this guy got? -Who can't forgive him? -And WHY should SHE? -It was his choice, NOT her's - his mistake. I'd be scrutinizing that babe seriously for a girlfriend, if that was her reaction. Reasonable upset is one thing, acting "really mad" is over punishing for the "crime" so to speak.

We all do bad things...we all need forgiveness...sometimes we get it, sometimes we don't. To ask takes a BIG person - and an even BIGGER one to forgive.

I think at this juncture, I'd be more concerned about this little girlfriend than your friend's boyfriend. He did the RIGHT thing - was honest, was sorry...I don't see any sterling behavior from her whatsoever, under the circumstances.

Sincerely,

Grace

If the person is genuinely sorry and definately won't do it again then absolutely. If they do it all the time to get out of trouble and continue to apologize for things cuz they know it'll get em off the hook then no. I don't think one incident with pot should make her this mad unless she had a personal experience with it in the past. He was curious and got it out of his system. It's not like he tried acid or crack.

Without forgiveness we would all likely end up hating each other. So yes, a person can be forgiven.

The persono was honest and asks for forgiveness. That is ALL he/she can do. I admire the person for telling the truth and asking! I'm sorry the g/f is hard-hearted.

Of course. It does take some people a little time to forgive others, you know? he should allow her the space she needs right now. She will come around.

Sounds like maybe he was a little disappointed to not have been caught! Why else would he go through the trouble of telling her about a little herb?

He will toke again... rest assured!

your brother's gf should forgive him. he has accepted the fact that he made a mistake and he was honest about it. everyone committs mistakes, we all need second chances to prove to others and most especially to ourselves that we can be better people because of realizing the mistakes we've made and avoiding to do the same things.

They CAN forgive but they don't HAVE to. Just depends on the personality of the person doing the forgiving.

That is just ridiculous about the girlfriend getting mad. Why does he even need to tell her. She's not his mother and it's none of her business to begin with. Sounds like he needs to find a girl who isn't going to act like his mommy.

It's up to her.

You can't force her to forgive him.

Honesty is a good idea, but just being honest won't erase one's bad actions.
