if the infection has reached the gums, which it sounds like it has, it could have gone into the jaw bone. If that's the case he'll need to have some of the gum and jaw bone removed, maybe not a lot, but it won't stop spreading and he could lose a lot of bone if he waits. And, they would put him out to do this, so assure him, he wouldn't have to be afraid. Poor guy, hope it works out.

He needs to make an appointment with a dentist and get on antibiotics to hopefully heal the gum disease. The infection in the gums can run through the body and into the heart. This is an unbelievable and EXTREMELY SERIOUS PROBLEM.

He can mouthwash and gently brush with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE 2 or three times a day and it will begin healing the gums. It is at the drug store one dollar a quart. Very inexpensive. This is only a helping measure. From my own dentist, I have used it daily for 40 years and have very healthy gums and teeth.

GET TO THE DENTIST AND BE PREPARED FOR DENTURES.

He needs to see a dentist immediately. I don't know what can be done, but recent studies have linked diseased gums and teeth to heart attack & stroke... even in young people!

Get him to a dentist NOW!

Dentures, if at all possible try not to have to get a bottom one they are the ones I see patients complain the most about. Top they do the best with, although you cannot taste as well.

He should get those teeth pulled. It can be a serious health risk if you get an infection that spreads to your brain or heart. Sounds like it's about time to see a dentist.
