She has had all of her shots. I think you meant a distemper shot which protects against that disease.

Pay close attention to her body language, to tell when she's receptive to petting, and when she wants you to back off. Make sure she's getting plenty of appropriate interactive play, to work off that kitten energy too. As she matures, and as you learn to interpret her moods and pet her appropriately so she no longer feels the need to bite or scratch to tell you when she's had enough, she should gradually become more affectionate.

One of mine does that too and she is 6 years old and has been that way since she was a kitten. Is your cat a calico? They have a tendancy to be like that.
That one is phoney. She is all cuddley and loving when she wants something, but the rest of the time loving is on HER terms!
And I have another who is 6 mos old who had a feral cat for a mom, and though she isn't mean, that is how she plays....biting. She also does it when she wants attention. I think it's heredity with her.

They are just like people, some are friendly and some are grumpy. It might just be a personality trait of your cat, then again, she might grow out of it when she matures. Just wear gloves, long sleeves and long pants until she does (lol).

Cats are strange -- in a good, interesting way!

Most cats hate to be picked up, but if you sit still they will come and sit down on or near you, so you can scratch and pet them. The affection has to be on THEIR terms, not yours. This is typical and can't be changed, so just learn to enjoy it.

Also, sometimes if you are petting a cat they seem to be really enjoying it then they turn and BITE! This is because the petting 'turned them on' and biting is part of the sexual act for cats. If your cat isn't spayed, getting her spayed might help. Of course she should be spayed anyway...

I agree with Bess2002 -- you need to learn to read her body language. She will tell you what she wants, it's just up to you to learn to understand her!

Good luck.

She will naturally stop after awhile. She doesnt relize that it hurts you. I have a Sphynx who always would bite but just one day stopped. Its just there way of finding out what to and what not to do. Another thing is to get a water bottle and if you dont like something that she is doing you spray her and she will stop.
