I was thinking more on the lines of ICBM's as I believe this is what the interceptors are supossed to be protecting against.

I graduated with and accounting degree I just wonder if the cost benifit of maintaining such an overwhelming arsonal vs having one that simply makes delivery but less missles would be of more value.

So theoritically you could manufacter really dozens of small dummy missles that are inexpensive and make the larger real missles appear the same and have the same affect as an overwhelming arsonal but at a fraction of the price?

Stealth will only make the target appear much smaller . Some of the info I have is a fighter may appear as small as a basket ball. A computer could analyze the path and calculate an intercept course . There is a continual game going on in this all the time . It should not be all that expensive.

The stealth characteristics of these vehicles is based on shape and materials.

We could make stealth missiles, but why? It is quite difficult to detect and stop something going at Mach 6. If we are talking about ICBMs, these travel at fourteen thousand miles per hour. Assuming you know exactly when they launch, you have a very short time to deal with them, especially with MIRV (Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicles).

Generally you simply buy far more offense and overwhelm the defense, using missiles. You won't lose a pilot, which is the key reason we want to make a plane difficult to detect and destroy.

Its had to make a stealth regular missile because even if it had the radar signature of a small bird, the enemy would know something was up because small birds don't go 3000mph.

Stealth cruise missiles exist. Russia already has one.

Current cruise missiles already evade radar by using computer guidance to fly as low to the ground as possible. This has proved to be more stealth than any kind of radar shielding.
