Well, think of the reverse possibility - Those who doth protest too much. ... Is inferiority / doubt / fear a possibility?

If they are quoting scripture, it's not THEIR authority they are speaking with, it's His.

Yes, and those who are not saved ARE going to hell, it's a sad thing and something that shouldn't be used to scare people. They speak of it wrongly, which is true, BUT they also warn you of it, which is good. They are trying to do good but botching the job. Good motive, bad implementation.

They don't ignore their own, they usually admit to it from what I've seen. They point out sin, if that sin applies to you, then you are their audience, if it doesn't, why are you bothered by it? Do you know something person about them that you can point at and say it's wrong? Or are you going to generalize them because they are putting a spotlight on your sin?

Hitler did do something similar to what you describe, but it's not even near the same topic. He used the "good idea, bad implementation" method. He wanted to create a paradise, which is good, but he was trying to bring it out by butchering millions of people, which is bad. That's where the similarity ends. A "Fundy" is trying to show you what you are doing wrong so you can correct it and receive a blessing of eternal life in paradise. Hitler pointed out what your faults were so he could kill you and use your bones as a highway for his troops while the utopia was build up around your remains. Nothing like each other, entirely different motives.

Fred Phelps and all who follow him are NOT of The True Christian Faith... every thing they do is against The Word and Will of God...

The only "Authority" is God

All who come to God, in The Way He prescribes, will enter Heaven... those who do not, will not

All of The True Christian Faith Know they are just as guilty of sin as any other mortal.

There have been untold numbers, of those of mortal flesh, who claim some form of superior knowledge and that they are the only ones who can dispence it... none have been correct.

Fundamentalists do have a superiority complexs because they DO place believers of God (i.e themselves) in front of others. Wikipedia describes Superiority complex as: "Those exhibiting the superiority complex commonly project their feelings onto others they perceive as inferior to themselves. Accusations of arrogance and ********* are often made by others when referring to the individual exhibiting the superiority complex."

I consider myself a "Fundamentalist". I don't think we have a superiority complex. Christianity is open to all. We believe the Bible is the absolute authority. We aren't quoting our words--they are God's words.... Try it. You will love it!!

It's not a complex - it's a fact. I have no problem being superior to other inferior beings and I do not feel it to be a complex. It's hardly my fault if you suffer feelings of inferiority in the presence of us great people, and I fail to see why you should whine about it. Get a life and become as great as we are!!

Yes, they do!

A fundie (i'm convinced it was probably a troll) contacted me via email because he didn't like the response i left to one of his questions. (I told him the gentlement were delivering him his very own white coat. One that would let him hug himself since he seemed to love himself so much. HA!) so he wrote me basically insulting me and telling me how stupid i was & blah blah blah. It was ironic because he criticized me for insulting him yet he kept attempting to insult me. I thought it was hilarious. It was terribly pathetic. (even moreso pathetic if the guy really was a fundie & not a troll as i had originally suspected.)

Let's see... I believe that I'm NOT good enough to get into heaven. That I need a savior to be good enough. Others believe that they of their own works are good enough to get into heaven..... Whose stance claims superiority?
