Thats easy...christians are hypocrites and do everything that they say is wrong, but its cool if they do it and no one else does. Love everyone, just hate gay folk. Help the poor, but we are going to hang out in our rich area churches because the poor areas are too dangerous. Accept everyone...so long as they carry the same beliefs we have. It sucks and I couldn't be part of it anymore...its man made fraternity to figure out things that they were not smart enough to solve with their own brains...why did 9/11 happen, oh, its gods will for those people. What ever???

I think you assume too much. Not all who claim to be Christians are and not all who attend church are. But just because someone served time in prison does not mean they are not welcome at church. And yes I would give a prostitute a ride to church. We have all done things in our life we are not proud of, we are human and totally fallable. BUT we are forgiven by the Lord and we struggle to live up to that. Jesus would not only be in the hood, He would be at the country club (what makes you think rich people don't sin?) and He would be every where else. He loves us all.

We have had some unusual people at Church and we have tried to help them. But yeah, if you just got out of prison for stealing I would be careful with you around my purse, for sure. Trust is earned by each individual and you have not proven to be trustworthy. I am not Jesus and can not do the things He did so naturally I will be more careful. I would not go to the hood. We have had bikers at our Church and that was OK.

Well I would watch my purse regardless, I wouldn't give a prostitute a ride home, and if I saw someone with her I'd wonder how much they had to pay. It's not that I'm too good for these people, but I have a general mistrust of people that I don't know.

Well that is your first thought, and you don't know whether that person has quit stealing or what ever crime he had committed. Ok, if there was a murderer in your house, would the first thing you do is say "Hey how are you? Can I get you anything?"? No probably not, you would have a sense of being uneasy. You would not be care free. You would want to protect what is important to you. Like you don't want people to take your wallet. So people watch out for their purse. Hope that helped.

Ya know, my own brother once had this same attitude. Untrue as it is.
I got lucky one night. I took him to a St. Paddy's Day celebration at my church. A stinky ol homeless guy showed up at the door. Swaying back and forth because he was drunk.
My brother rolled his eyes and said "Let's count the minutes before the "good Christians" boot this guy."
My pastor and associate pastor from opposite sides of the gym got up and hustled over to this guy. Each one grabbed his hand and steadied him. Then they each sat him down and got him TWO plates of food.
No one minded making room for him. And God bless him, every sunday after that he'd clean up as best he could and come to church.
You know, forgiveness does not mean "get stupid." We pray every day "Lead us not into temptation." Leaving a thief with an open purse is temptation. Leavng a molester with a child is temptation.
We must help them to heal and move on as best we can.

How do you know what I would do? Do you know me? I would most certainly tell people like you have mentioned about the good news of Jesus Christ. They are people who have made bad choices and Jesus died to give them a new life. If they would want to come to church, then that means they are trying to get God into their lives and I would certainly not prevent that. However, I would not approve of their lifestyle and tell them they need to change. If they accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, then He will change their lives. Jesus is about changing lives for the better, he came to seek and save the lost. Peace be with you.

Yes your right Jesus did hang out in the hood, but He was also discerning in His spirit and read minds all the while.
My parents are in their 70's and pastor a church in the ghetto...inner city, they provide help with food and clothing, Overcomers in Christ, for those with addiction issues, AA, and NA, the works. But you know what I don't see?... People like you who don't give a moment to even pray for their safety,or give a helping hand, and you want to question if they'd watch their purse or wallet.
Who are you to ? those who are out in the streets ministring to the lost and the hurting? Babies 2-4 years of age by themselves because there is no one home to love them and take care of them. People sleeping in abandon buildings because family is afraid "they'll steal my purse"!!! Who are you to ask a ? you don't even know what you are talking about?
You are the one I wouldn't trust... you would steal my purse and blame the drunk, the junkie and the prostitute. Yes....... WE HAVE GIVEN EACH ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE A RIDE TO CHURCH, WE HAVE FED THEM, WE HAVE TREATED THOSE FOLKS WITH THE DIGNITY OF GOD AND CONTINUE TO DO SO!
What have you done is my QUESTION?????????????????

I'd only watch my purse if you were dressed in drag and giving the sexy look at my "Gucci" faux purse ... If you stool my purse you'd get a Rosary (blessed by JPII), a few prayer cards, gum, lip gloss, my Bally's ID, receipts, and a few dimes and nickles if you're lucky. Really, the purse is just a red excessory to keep me from smoking cigaretts (hypnotic suggestion).
