I got my dog to lose weight by substituting canned carrots and green beans for part of his dinner.
I give my dog LITE dry food with a spoonful of canned food mixed in. Canned food is mostly water, so it doesn't have as many calories as dry food. I feed my dog twice a day.
For his diet I fed him is regular breakfast, making sure I didn't give him too much. For dinner I gave him HALF as much of the dry food, mixed with a third of a can of either carrots or green beans, and his canned food. (This was a vet approved diet.)
I suggest you gradually cut down on how much dry food you give him and change to a low calorie type. Then, when you've gotten him down to the smallest amount you want to give him, try using the carrots and green beans like I did. Do this all very gradually, though, so he won't get too upset.
Also, he needs more exercise -- it will be good for both of you! Cut back on treats and try not to feed him human food, ever.
It's so important for your dog's health and happiness to be in good shape. I'm glad you want to help him. Good luck!

No people food -- ever.
Set meal times. Do not allow her to "graze" throughout the day.
Portion control.
Weight maintenance formula dog food.
One snack per day -- a single Milkbone.
Nice long walks with you. Start slow though -- don't over do it. Work up to longer walks at a brisker pace once she's used to the routine again.
Plenty of play time, in short burts. Ten to 20 minutes, 2-3 times a day is all you need. Try frisbee, fetch the ball, etc...

Get her to hit the Speed bag a little more maybe increase her shadow boxing to 20 minutes and DO have her skip rope! hope that helps.
Seriously, change her diet, if you have a treadmill machine have her get on it for 15- 30 minutes a day, and walk her more. Good luck

Is she getting plenty of exercise? To be honest, overweight in cats and dogs is more often caused by diet. Even dogs who get plenty of exercise and don't even eat much in quantity can get fat - I've seen it often! Even animals who don't exercise much can lose weight - it's simply a matter of finding the correct diet/exercise balance.
I have many clients whose pets I am helping to lose weight, cats and dogs. I put them on a weight control diet - I use Hills r/d. Diet foods are low in calories and high in fibre so they fill the animal up while allowing weight loss to occur. There are other diet foods available in pet shops that work, but I've found Hills r/d to be the best.
Feed diet food to the recommended daily amount for the weight you want your dog to be - about 25kg (55lb) for a female boxer. They should lose weight gradually over a period of months.

The problem is solved with dogs the same way as humans - Diet and Exercise!
Consult your vet see what he/she reccomends the dog loose, get her on a low cal dog food (Your vet can help you with which one and how much to feed her) and get her lots of exercise!

Check with your vet. They usually have instruction sheets on how to help a dog lose weight and stay healthy.

Feed her less and take her for walks. You can also buy special dog foods that promote weight loss.
