Does anyone know of any free sites that would help me learn the basics and how to get started writing?

My life is a real life soap opera full of interesting and important information, learned through many wonderful experiences, as well and hardships. I feel that with my knowledge of english, drama and psychology and my life experiences would make for some interesting reading or atleast I'd have fun writing my story. I'm just not sure about the process of writing.
