Catholic here. That really depends on the church, the rite and the people involved.
If you go to an American Catholic funeral at your average American Catholic church - the funeral rite will be very solemn.
If you go to an Irish Catholic funeral at an Irish Catholic church there will be much celebrating.
There is a very solemn Tridentine Mass. And there is the very fun and exciting Life Teen Mass. Oooo!
I could go on, but I think you get the point.

My Religious Rites are generally festive, but that doesn't mean there isn't dignity in them. Solemnity and dignity don't always have to go together.

That is what Pagans are the best at.
Our Gods prefer a drunken shout of celebration to a solemn prayer any day. Celebratory faith is the name of the game with the Old Gods.
