I am getting ready to start the birth control nuvaring and I am wanting to know any advantages and disadvantages of this form of birth control as well as reliability. What do you like or not like about it?

I have been using Nuva ring for almost 2 years now. I highly reccommend!! I used the patch before the ring and the patch made me really sick. The reliability of Nuva ring is the same as the other forms of BC. and you have many many less side effects because you aren't taking a pill that has to run through your whole system. You can't feel it at all! I had some cramping and discharge for the first month or two but that went away. I didn't have any weight gain but my boobs grew an entire cup size! You can take the ring out for up to 2 hours at a time if you're going to have sex. The only disadvantage is taking it out. other than that i love it.

I have been using Nuvaring for nearly a year. At first, I hated it. The first month I had a had a lot of breakthrough bleeding and headaches. Those are common side effects.

Beginning my second month, no bleeding. No headaches. And I noticed that intimacy with hubby was more...hm. Intense? One pleasant side effect is increased sensitivity. I have also skipped my period 4 times. LOVELY!

The one thing I don't like is that sometimes it can make being with hubby uncomfortable. Good thing is that it can be removed during and reinserted afterwards. As long as you put it back in within a 3 hour time frame. Some people don't feel it at all during.

I haven't had one 'scare' with it. Plus you can get samples from your doc. He gave me 6...that's 6 months of FREE birth control!

One drawback is remembering it's there and when to change. Don't play around with that because, same as any hormonal bc, you'll get pregnant !

Well honestly hun i dont know i haven't really checked into that birth control, I take yasmin but thats for my acne. I think it all depends on what your using it for like your face, not to have kids, your period so it could depend on which type you should use for what your using it for. I haven't used nuvaring before but in my opinion i would like the pill better i hope i helped you good luck with it=)

I did not use this personally, but my friend did. She had a severe allergic reaction to it and was absolutely miserable. Now, I will add that she has had problems with every form of birth control she has tried since her son was born, but if you think anything is wrong, get checked right away! Good luck, I hope it works for you. :)

I have a few friends who swear by it. They think it's better than an IUD. I can't use it though, I can't even get a tampon in right.
