I'm a mother of 5 and thinking of being a foster parent. We own a four bedroom house. I wonder if I will need a bigger house.

Where I live, a foster child can only share a bedroom if the other child is close to the same age and is the same sex as the other child. However, it is different in each state.

Contact your local social services agency. They will be able to tell you what you need. They can also tell you the max or min capacity on living arrangements. Plus you really should discuss this with your kids. They may not like having to give up their own space and this could cause problems.

Additionally, there are private agencies you can contact.

Either way, expect a "home visit" when you finally decide to go ahead with this plan.
